  • Isaac Price

Pleased for him. If I was O?Neil doubling up with the Blackburn job - I would have called him up too and play him for the full 90 mins 😂

Isaac Price has been called up to Northern Ireland?s squad for this month?s crucial clash with Italy on the back of his impressive weekend display for West Bromwich Albion.

Northern Ireland face a tough World Cup qualifying play-off against the heavyweights at Atalanta?s Stadio di Bergamo on March 26, with a final against either Wales or Bosnia-Herzegovina awaiting should they advance.

    Always enjoy a conspiracy theory

recent performances under Mozza have definitely showed a marked improvement. Clearly the call up reflects his underlying ability and maybe a recognition of this recent form. Well done Isaac.

I wonder if Mozza considers him as fundamental to our regenerated style ?

I'll be stunned if Price doesn't play the entirety of this fixture regardless of the score. Price is a willing runner. O'Neill will be more than willing to let him run and run himself into the ground ahead of our fixture with Blackburn. And it's exactly what Al would do if he were managing both Northern Ireland and Blackburn too .

This is a really good point from Al.

Surely this is a conflict of interest?

Price has been greatly underwhelming for so much of this season, but since that little tantrum of his at the fans has-like all the players to be fair-seemed rejuvenated under Morrison. No doubting his work rate and you could clearly tell just how much that goal meant to him against Hull as he had been desperate to score.

Hopefully, the days of lack of desire, belief and attacking intent are now behind us and they will all continue to be more confident going forward and less desperate in their decision making that has seen us squander too many opportunities in the past.

Whatever Mozza, Gill and the rest of the coaching staff have been doing is working and Price, Diakite and Imray in particular are benefiting . Let's hope such performances can be sustained and can be enough for us to avoid the drop. Will be following both Price and Styles if I can during the upcoming internationals.

I enjoy watching the home nations play especially in competitive matches.
Would be great to see an Albion player at the world cup finals.

Very much agreed Stargazer. Here's hoping Price does well in the playoff with Italy and comes back safe and sound. Fingers crossed for Callum Styles too who's been picked for Hungary's friendlies against Slovenia and Greece at the same time Price is away with the Blackburn manager .

See below. West Brom should 100% declare Price injured to play tomorrow night in a fkin joke of a match before Friday and Monday. If we do not then we are stupid!

Price has one more piece of international duty to attend to, as Northern Ireland prepare to take on Wales in an international friendly on Tuesday night.

So, whilst there?s nothing riding on it in terms of World Cup qualification, Northern Ireland boss O?Neill may have spotted an opportunity to deploy a rather cruel, albeit cunning plan involving Price, West Brom and Blackburn.

The 56-year-old is also the manager of Blackburn, and so he?ll know that playing Price for the full 90 minutes against Wales would prevent him the opportunity to rest up before Rovers and Albion meet on Easter Monday.

Whilst I agree with the sentiment I think you may have overlooked a couple of things. Firstly he's with Northern Ireland so they might actually know whether he's injured or not.

Secondly if he declared himself injured and unfit to play for them you can bet Northern Ireland would kick up a fuss with the authorities to ensure he couldn't play for us against Blackburn a few days later anyway.

So any which way you look at it although there's a very clear conflict of interest regarding O'Neil managing both Northern Ireland and Blackburn there really isn't a fat lot we can do about it beyond hoping he comes back fit.

Very good points Dan. Price too will want to play because his international career will be there after West Brom. Absolutely shocking though he may even play in a no nothing match with club matches on Friday and Monday and if this were a Blackburn key player we know what would happen!

Pleased to note O'Neill substituted Isaac Price at halftime last night rather than have him run himself into the ground for 90+ minutes. Footnote: it's rumoured that more than one Championship club raised concerns about O'Neill's clash of interests surrounding yesterday's fixture and this Bank Holiday weekend's relegation battle fixtures.
