  • Praying in public

Kemi Badenoch has said a Ramadan event in central London criticised by one of her shadow ministers should not have been allowed to go ahead at all.
It comes after shadow justice secretary Nick Timothy described public prayers at the gathering in Trafalgar Square as an "act of domination".

I do agree with her as my view if that ALL faiths should use their places of worship or a private place ie park to do this! Why pray in Leicester Square to be antagonist! There are thousands of tourists there too who would not choose to see this in such a public place!

Last week I came back from NYC and just after take off an Orthodox Jew with hat on stood in the bulk head and started praying with a book and started swaying backwards and forwards. I said to the cabin crew - everyone to their own but kids are looking scared and why can?t he go to the toilets and do this in private? Many still are not comfortable with flying so why should anyone put up with this!!

Can't see much reason for anyone to want to pray in public tbh. regardless of what religion they follow. I get that prayers in some religions have to be said at certain times which may, on occasion, then mean that that they might have to be done in a public space but surely most would try their best to avoid doing so. Otherwise, it does smack of being deliberately provocative -especially if done in large groups.

Well, we as Baggies need a whole lot of praying, public or not, for the rest of the season?

Earlier this season, I saw a Muslim footballer praying on the pitch before kick off (can’t remember who it was or the team) and about five minutes into the game he had to be substituted because of injury; a lot of good that did him! I just cannot see the point of prayer, it is wasted time, which would be far better spent performing an act of kindness to someone. Doing the lottery is much more likely to bear fruit than praying!
