  • Williams over Furlong

Almost every comment ( and there?s numerous ) all saying Williams should be in instead of Furlong. I must agree. Here?s one of absolute tons

Alex Williams in for furlong then I?d say that?s a good team.

Furlong needs to go, only thing he really offers is the long throw ins, tactically inept, no positional sense and constantly leaves the defence exposed when he forgets he?s a RB not an RM. I?ve been a big supporter of his in past seasons but I think it?s time we admit that he?s not the player he was, Alex Williams deserves his chance for a run of games

It would be good to see Williams and Furlong genuinely compete for the position.
Furlong adds experience and of course an exceptionally long throw - not to be underestimated.
Williams offers more pace, but as evidenced by Calum, inexperience may be costly at Championship level. Also, as evidenced vs Derby, Williams does possess a decent long throw, albeit not in the same league as Darnel.

Dont agree at all but you know this. I dont have to say anything because the last 8 managers choosing Furlong speaks louder than any fans who just dont like him. Its great to see Williams though and I wont argue when he gets the nod. I just know that when he makes mistakes and he will, those Furlong haters will forgive him anything. Seen it all before.

That?s the point which many are saying Prando and it was true against Blackburn - Furlong was outpaced a few times which may explain why he mistimes his tackles and jumps with elbows. He?s petulant too and whilst that second yellow was very harsh he should have been sent off minutes before that incident. Anyway - good that Williams can come in at a nod.

The two latest signings are great especially the Man Utd one who I?m told his excellent. I can see him taking Molumby?s place as don?t think he will drop Mowatt. Anyway he must start as midfield is our weakest link plus of course poor keepers.

Get a decent keeper in now and I will be happy.

It is great to see a youngster like Williams emerging but at present I would stick with Furlong. It is good to know though that if Furlong does get injured or is not performing then we have a sound replacement.

Williams should be in the squad every week for me Prando. Furlong is in his prime and very consistent so I expect Furlong to still be first choice. For seasons now weve relied on Furlong not getting injured. Not such a worry now.

Great name for a fullback , brings back memories of Stuart and Graham Williams.

When the team sheet is released tomorrow at 11:15 am BST (I am of the understanding that the team is now announced 1h15m before KO for some reason), we will see what the team is but I reckon the 2 newbies won't be in the reckoning until they've had some training sessions next week.

                  That makes sense, stargazer buddy.
Tomorrow’s team selection will give us a further understanding of Mason’s thinking. It is an important and high profile game, so we will gain more insight into the manager’s style.
                  Griffiths vs Wildsmith…I wonder

Baggie Bird in goal! Seriously if we lose the match tomorrow can see it being a soft goal not lack of effort. I pray that?s not the case

I have been a fan of Griffiths since Palmer left but unfortunately I am now starting to doubt my judgement. I now believe that we should be looking for a new number one with Griffiths as the number two. We need to get rid of Wildsmith as he is just not up to the job. It will be interesting to see what transpires.

Williams looks ready but wont surpass Furlong yet.

Young players need opportunity and a space where they can make mistakes and learn from them. .

Griffiths is very young for a goalie as most mature a little later. If we truly believe in having an academy, they need chances and to be trusted. Griffiths is a fantastic goalkeeper in the making; I wouldnt be put off by a couple of mistakes last season under a crap manager.

Wildsmith is experienced and made absolute howlers. He just isnt good enough.

Thankfully this could and should be Furlongs last season, Williams needs a chance and it might come sooner than he thinks if Furlong?s petulance carries on, we ain?t going to win many games playing with 10 men

I said the same thing this morning. If Furlong gets sent off again through petulance which costs us - hope he does one! You only need to look on social media and there?s numerous comments about him being the weak line. Yeah he does have a good throw - wow!

He gets sent off every 60 games on average so dont hold your breath.
