I think the White House pushed for Mandelson. He was part of the in crowd, which has since turned out to be dodgy and I dont think anyone knew the lengths he went against his country to be part of that in crowd.

Evidently it was a calculated risk to curry favour with Trump and his team. Its definitely not paid off. It’s a pretty major misfire from McSweeney and Starmer, although it’s not clear on how much detail Starmer had, McSweeney certainly will have had knowledge of it. He might not have shared to attempt to protect Starmer.

Resign though? Im not sure what benefit that gives us. I think Starmer is ok but has made some mistakes. Im not certain any of the others are much better. He has no natural successor who everyone can get behind.

Badenoch is sat in an easy seat. She just criticises constantly which is easy at the minute. That doesnt prove she is a good politician or would be a good PM. To me she seems a bit devoid of innovation and I dont think she would be good on the world stage.

I think that you are right about the US angle Matt. Mandelson certainly had existing ties to Trump and some of those in his circle and his appointment may well have been more than partly based on wanting to use this relationship to curry more favour from the president but the moot point remains how much Starmer knew.

You could argue that in terms of realpolitik the appointment wasn't too bad an idea on the face of it but Starmer consistently tries to sell himself as being honest and a man of principle and integrity. He may yet be found to have been naive in all of this which might play into his image as a charisma lacking lawyer obsessed with "processes". That would be bad enough for someone in his position , but if he is found to have been complicit in anyway then it will be a lot worse for him.

The main concern for me remains who Labour would elect to replace him if he does go.

A muppet would be better on the world stage than Starmer. He has no respect in the Middle East and Meloni told him to get his house in order in the UK. The guy is an absolute joke.

In his own words we have become a land of strangers with thousands still arriving daily. Smash the gangs he said 😭. All these illegals which are single men with different attitudes to women in their own countries should be tagged and kept in camps prior to deportation. That?s not far right but plain common sense. There?s been more u turns than Compo on his bike and it?s embarrassing. Ask any business leader what they think of Starmer and the first letter will be W

The May elections will be embarrassing for the incompetent tool and sadly he still does not see he?s the most hated PM in our history unless of course you bat for the left or a certain voter which he protects! As the grooming gangs scandal been fast tracked and resolved yet for the sake of all those poor kids?

Who would you replace him with then Al? Burnham can’t stand as he isnt an MP so who is next? The options are:

          Lammy
          Milliband
          Cooper
          Rayner
          Streeting
          Mahmoud
          Bryant
          Khan

Those are the senior figures and the most likely to take over. Take your pick….im struggling to be honest.

All idiots and if I had to pick it would be Liz Kendall. Mahmood seems sensible but in the wrong post in my opinion. Cooper should never be allowed anywhere near that job for defrauding and cheating the tax payer. Milliband is useless and Burnham even if he was allowed to be an MP he?s a complete wet lettuce.

The country is a mess! A child could tell you why thousands upon thousands enter this country illegally and another child could tell you how to turn the tap off. The moral of the story is why don?t you think people shop lift in the UAE? Why do you think lazy t wats get off their backsides in countries like Spain? It?s not rocket science!
