Certainly needs questioning Soulman. Was he thrown under the bus? Did he really not tell Starmer? Judging from what I've seen so far, it's all about "processes" again. Well, maybe sticking to the processes is one thing and technically correct but hiding behind them is another. I'd expect those in senior positions to have the gumption to think for themselves and question the processes if they felt they were either wrong or not fit for purpose in any way.Originally posted by soulman101 View Post

Didn't see all of the Robbins interview earlier and have only just caught up with what else he had to say. All pretty damning for Starmer in as much that the cabinet seemed to put him under a lot of pressure to speed up the process of passing Mandelson and according to Robbins, they had no interest in "whether" Mandelson would be passed but just interested in "when".
Starmer may indeed not have been made aware directly of the Security Service's advice not to appoint Mandelson, but it seems pretty clear that he went along with those who thought that Mandelson's existing relationship with Trump would be beneficial for the UK in terms of helping to curry favour with the president and was keen to get him cleared and appointed as quickly as possible.
Despite Mandelson's known history, Starmer very clearly agreed with those who felt his appointment would be useful and he didn't ask about any issues with Mandelson's vetting because he too wanted him as ambassador to the US and he wanted it done as quickly as possible, even ignoring advice from Simon Case who told him he should wait for the vetting process to be completed and Mandelson cleared before announcing the appointment. It seems, however, that Number 10 had already done the groundwork for Mandelson's appointment to the Washington position by already broaching it with both the king and Trump.
Starmer may not have been told directly about the Security Service's advice but he didn't ask either and he didn't ask because he went along with those who wanted Mandelson appointed which looks very suspiciously like he didn't really care what the vetting process may have thrown up.
At the very best, this (yet again!) shows Starmer's judgement to be woefully poor but his actions and behaviour can also be read as disingenuous and for a PM who promised to clean up government after the scandals of Boris's term in office this smacks of hypocrisy. Starmer's behaviour may not be as corrupt or self serving as the behaviour of Johnson but it is very far from the transparency he promised and his responses until now to this have been all about deflection.
Won't take much more surely to make his position as PM untenable. The worry then will be who the Labour Party elect as his replacement.

100% Starmer is lying and grossly incompetent and an absolute disgrace and hypocrite.Originally posted by Omegstrat6 View PostDidn't see all of the Robbins interview earlier and have only just caught up with what else he had to say. I hope he?s absolutely smashed at the polls as he?s an embarrassment!

100% bang on Ketts and I fear for my kids and their children. I honestly feel this lot are purposely trying to ruin this country. I genuinely hope Labour are smashed in the May elections but the problem is certain voters are now voting Green for a clear reason. There will be a point when the country is overrun by the thousands upon thousands entering illegally! TrumpOriginally posted by kettering_baggie View PostWhat a disgusting individual Starmer is, he is utterly incompetent. An incompetence, though, that is matched by the rest of his Cabinet; what a state the country is in.
Is a nutter but not everything he says is nuts ie the country is becoming unrecognisable and a weak leader is letting it happen!

Yes anybody who does not lie, is weak, permits open borders and hands out benefits like confetti. Sadly this excludes almost everyone in labour. Yes the Tories made many mistakes but even the clown Boris was not hated like Starmer!
We await the May elections 😭

Sadly, within Labour, there is no viable alternative. Starmer deserves to go, utterly useless, but then we might get Ed Millipede, village idiot extraordinaire, or the tart Rayner, maybe another cardboard cutout (Streeting). General election required.Originally posted by WBA123 View PostCan you and/or Al give me the alternatives please?

But that isn't going to happen Ketts so we're stuck with Labour for the next 3 years. Starmer is certainly no leader but, like yourself (and probably everybody!) it really worries me as to who the party faithful might vote in to replace him if he does resign. I didn't like Boris but the Tory faithful then gave us Truss remember!Originally posted by kettering_baggie View PostSadly, within Labour, there is no viable alternative. The upcoming local elections will be interesting. Some will vote as these elections are intended, which is for the candidate- regardless of party -who they feel would best represent the interests of their constituency but very many will doubtless use them to express their unhappiness at Starmer and Labour.
The interesting ones will be in those areas where Reform candidates have been elected local councillors. Reform have had some pretty poor performances where they have been in charge so will they be outed in favour of others who might do a better job on the local front or will they retain their positions because those who voted them in first time around simply want to send a message to Starmer?
Me, I have the option of voting for a Restore Britain candidate from the country's latest political party formed by local MP and total c unt Rupert Lowe (with a name like that alone it clearly tells you that he represents "ordinary working people" 😀
but I'll likely be voting for my local Conservative candidate instead. Not because he is a Conservative (in fact, he would probably prefer to stand as an independent himself) but because I feel that he has simply done a good job locally.

I was actually asking you for alternatives to Labour as a party. Not within Labour.Originally posted by kettering_baggie View PostSadly, within Labour, there is no viable alternative. Al just floated the conservatives who had 14 years, invested barely anything into infrastructure despite interest rates being at their lowest point in history ever and will likely not be seen again. Overspent hugely on HS2, which is not really wanted or needed. Gave us a disastrous Brexit which is costing us £100bn per year in lost output. And gave all of their friends dodgy contracts during Covid.
You could also suggest Reform. Who were the loudest supporters of a disastrous Brexit, which costs us £100bn per year in lost output (I will continue to repeat that figure) and don't seem like they can even run local councils that they control. Although I seriously doubt they could run a bath. Nigel is very good at drinking a pint and appealing to uneducated masses though.
Anyone else you're likely to go for that I've missed?

Your views 123 but what a silly comment the uneducated masses. You said the same thing about those who voted for Brexit. Had you changed your words from uneducated to idiotic or something similar fair enough.Originally posted by WBA123 View PostI was actually asking you for alternatives to Labour as a party. I could name countless business leaders who voted for Brexit and Reform - all far more educated than you and more successful. Here?s just a few below:
Zia Yusuf: A multi-millionaire entrepreneur who has emerged as a key supporter, often cited in reports regarding major donations and a potential public role for the party.
Nick Candy: A billionaire property tycoon who was appointed as Reform's treasurer, pledging to raise "seven-figure" sums for the party.
Richard Tice: A property developer and former party leader who has extensively funded the party, converting over ?613,000 of personal loans into donations earlier in 2025.
Jeremy Hosking: A hedge fund manager and significant donor, having provided over ?1.7 million to the party, including large donations.
Christopher Harborne: A crypto investor who donated a record ?9 million to the party.
Terence Mordaunt: Owner of First Corporate Consultants and a former chair of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, who has donated ?200,000 to the party.
Bassim Haidar: An entrepreneur and donor who expressed concerns over Labour's policies regarding non-dom tax breaks.
Arron Banks: A former UKIP donor and entrepreneur who has supported the party.
Andrew Perloff: Chairman of Panther Securities PLC, who has donated to the party.
You could say Robert Lowe or even Elon Musk are idiots if you wanted but you certainly could not use the word uneducated.
Many would say lefties on the whole are uneducated as the many have purple hair, old folk soon to be dead, and many needing a good wash like the dirty rats at Glastonbury etc.
Farage seems a hell of a lot brighter than Rayner and Lammy. Apologies our Ange was bright when it came to defrauding the public purse and my god - she wants to make a comeback. Who the hell would trust her?

Trump was born into a life of money, would you call him well educated? Would you call Boris Johnson well educated? I wouldn't.
Some of the richest people out there, and I include Elon Musk in this, are risk takers. And have been financially rewarded for taking risks that others wouldn't.
I've met my fair share of wealthy people. Some of them are not bright. They've been lucky, they've taken risks, or they've inherited money. I'm not talking about all wealthy people, but I would say more often than not the people I've met who are in that category probably fall under those - Lucky, risk takers or inherited.
You're also picking out 10 people or so who support Brexit. 17m people voted for it. There are going to be some educated folk out of that. Although I would question some of those on your list. Arron Banks is reportedly having his pockets lined by Russian interests. Richard Tice was born into considerable wealth.
I'm talking about the demographics. The vast majority of people who support it are less educated than those who don't. The vast majority of people who support it are the older generation, not the younger generation. These are facts.
And as for Farage. I'm amazed he is even showing his face in public after the debacle of Brexit. Which he promised would make us better off. Yet, here he is leading the polls. Which speaks volumes about the electorate.
The vast majority of people who support him are gullible, uneducated fools.

I would 100% say whatever anyone thinks of Boris you can?t say he?s not educated with that degree at a top university. Idiot or whatever that is down to opinion but educated yes he is. Likewise Farage went to Dulwich and not many thick ones in there. I could name others who have been to Kings and UCL - you have to be brighter than bright to get an offer there like my own daughter who has received offers from both. Three A Levels of which you need A* and A, A although she?s predicted three A*?s.Originally posted by WBA123 View PostJust because someone has money, doesn't necessarily mean they are well educated or even successful.

More on the left are thicker than dog s hit with dyed hair, coke and oldies waiting to die who all need a bar of soap. Basic education is having a good wash 😭😭😂
