We should perhaps count ourselves lucky it is only the two points.

We should be safe. One point and we?re home and dry. We would have to suffer a huge defeat or two and Oxford do better, for us to be relegated, I beleive.

Fingers crossed Mozza and the boys can finish the job.

We have a better goal difference than Oxford so that will help also of course Oxford have to beat Sheffield Wed at home and Millwall away

Can see this one dragging onto an appeal. Club statement:

'West Bromwich Albion Football Club has released the following statement following publication of an EFL Club Financial Review Panel (CFRP) decision:

“Following a two-day hearing which concluded on 23 April 2026, the EFL’s Club Financial Review Panel (CFRP) has published a decision which states that the Club has exceeded the Upper Loss Threshold for the three-year period ending 30 June 2025 and will therefore receive a two point deduction, effective immediately. At this stage, the CFRP has not published any written reasons for the decision. The Club disagrees with the CFRP’s findings and remains of the view that it has fully complied with the Profitability and Sustainability (P&S) Rules.

“The decision does not state the amount by which the Club is said to have exceeded the Upper Loss Threshold. West Bromwich Albion has not been informed of the quantum of the breach, save that this is less than £2million. This is therefore the smallest ever breach of the P&S Rules across the EFL Championship and the Premier League.

“Proceedings were brought by the EFL’s Club Financial Reporting Unit (CFRU) following a change in the CFRU’s approach to Community Development Expenditure. In 2023/24, the CFRU accepted that the Club was entitled to include in-kind donations of the Club’s facilities, staff time and resources to its official charity partner, The Albion Foundation, in its P&S calculation. Earlier this year, the CFRU informed the club that it had changed its approach and imposed a retrospective adjustment to the Club’s P&S calculation.

“Without the CFRU changing its approach to the Community Development Expenditure, the Club would not have breached the P&S Rules. The Club will continue to support the great work of The Albion Foundation and its community programmes.

“West Bromwich Albion has a right of appeal and is considering its options. The Club will provide further comment once it has received the written reasons.

“For now, we will settle this on the pitch.” '.

Yes Phil, we are plus 6 better off. Oxford would need to win both their remaining games and us lose both with them bettering the six goal deficit. Not impossible but hopefully we won’t get smashed by Ipswich.

The team just need to keep their nerve along with us supporters. .

              Your excused 68.

I honestly wonder if an appeal is worth it, as we could be subjected to a more severe points deduction.

It is still in our own hands, which I see as a positive rather than to leaving to an appeal with the possibility of some brown envelope’s being passed around, of that ever has happened of course.

              Seriously I’d leave well alone.

To be fair, having read fully what you have posted 68, I would play our last two games then, if the worst happened appeal. I think that is basically what the club is suggesting.

If it wasn’t clear to see before, now it is plainly obvious, the EFL is run by a bunch of morons. Apart from wanting the points to make us mathematically safe, I hope we hammer Ipswich; remember Highbury ‘78………

We should sue the Premier league who passed Lai as a fit and proper person to buy our club.
We breached the rules ,because Liai took money out the club to prop his Chinese co and we ended taking a loan to cover this .
The interest on this took us over the limit and to change the rules on our great foundation stinks .
On the football side we didn't get any benifit.
They say cheats never prosper , well it does in football you end with titles ,cup wins , promotions and new stadiums
We ended with money going missing and JP retiring to a tax haven with ?200m .
As On Balance, much as it goes against the grain expect the points and don't apeal.

Mixed feelings. I think it?s a scandalous outcome and the EFL know it. But we are highly unlikely to go down.

I think I am right in saying we have 14 days to appeal. By then we will know if we even need to or not.

David Piesing said Albion made EFL awear of Lai's loans , but the EFl seem to to have lost the e mails ( bit like Morgan having his phone stolen)
Well any way David Piesing has copy's of the said E mails .

The interest payments for the loans would have appeared season after season in the figures so it's not that in itself which has caught us out. Its the EFL changing the rules earlier this year AFTER the accountes were submitted. Fuc* Wits they are.

How on earth are you meant to manage the clubs finances and conform to their rules when they change them.

The goals difference is 6 which means if we lose 2 games by a goal and Oxford win 2 games by a goal its just 2 goals which we could concede against Ipswich or Oxford could score against Sheff Wed.
Just checked and we have a goals for of plus 6 on Oxford so that would also come into play.
I don't expect the miracle of Oxford staying up, I don't think they do either.
                            I am just angry.
If ever a topic should make supporters post on a forum its this, surely.
