I think they should be removed from the playoffs and since they finished fourth from top, they should be replaced with the team that finished fourth from bottom.

Southampton should be expelled from the playoffs, they cheated, cheats should not prosper. Middlesbrough should play Hull in the final. Alas, this is the EFL we are talking about, they couldn’t run a bath, so I expect that they will fudge the issue and Southampton will, to all intents and purposes, get away with it.
