Ah, for those pre-decimalisation days of LSD!😀Originally posted by soulman101 View PostThere was 20 shillings to the old pound , 10 bob was 10 shilings in coins or a 10 shilling (bob) note ( the cost of my childs 1968 FA Cup final ,although Jeff Astle signed my ticket stub so to me it is priceless )
Sadly, farthings were no longer legal gender when I was growing up but I can remember using H'Pennies, pennies, Thruppeny bits, sixpences, shillings, florins and the folding stuff (though, as a kid, I didn't see too much of that !)

Too young myself at the time to frequent pubs in the early 70s but it wasn't lager that I remember from those days so much as ales from the likes of Ansells and Mitchell&Butlers. I had an uncle who worked for some time for Davenports (beer at home) too, though in those days I remember that many pubs had an offie hatch as well.Originally posted by baggieal View PostAbout 7 pints of lager which was on to the way to getting p issed 😭😭😭

Don't mind the odd pint of mild myself, though I prefer bitter. An old neighbour of mine always used to drink "twos" -half mild/half brown ale. Think it may have been a Norfolk thing.Originally posted by billsbest View PostMy Dad always drank Mild and when I asked for a pint of bitter, he asked me if I was queer! He couldn't understand paying 1p a pint more when you got drunk after 10 pints exactly the same.

The way that this country is being run at the moment, a pound coin (quid) will be of less value than the long gone farthing!Originally posted by Omegstrat6 View PostAh, for those pre-decimalisation days of LSD!
