If we can manage to find cover for LB and a creative midfielder before the transfer window ends then I think we will have done well.

Rumours are Taylor is going to Millwall.

        This is a fantastic signing.

Really liking the philosophy. Big concern over losing Heggem but now 9 million quid better off and quality signings. Heggem is already a distant memory. Didnt hurt us at all. No need for panic going forward.

Looks like we?re going to go three at the back, Mepham, Phillips, Campbell or Bielik,
This certainly opens the exit door for both Furlong and Taylor - last chance to get a decent fee for Darnell and/or a big chunk of pure profit for Caleb.

Caleb not good enough in my eyes and if Furlong, Wallace and Dike are gone by the end of this season - Happy Days!

Furlong wont be going anywhere. Signed extended contract (remember) and hes our vice captain. Big part of Masons plans. He might get a deserved rest now and again though.

And just as I post I see Ipswich are planning to buy Furlong for 4 million. More money if it happens. Big miss but as with Heggem no one is indispensable.

Ipswich Town are close to signing #wba defender Darnell Furlong in a deal worth up to ?4m. ?3.5m guaranteed and ?500k contingent on promotion

Now to sign a proper right back who can defend,

Well I think that is a very good price if it goes a head. He has been a good player for the club.
All the best to him if he moves on.

We all know that Furlong can be poor defensively, but-as Boingy pointed out-the fact that he was given an extended contract and made vice-captain surely shows his value within the squad. There is also more to his forward play than just his long throws and he has been a key player for us in recent times.

If he does go (and, as Dubs says, ?4m isn't a bad price) then I wish him the very best but just hope that Mepham -who normally plays as a central defender- is a genuine up-grade both in a wing-back role as well as defensively.

TBH, if the move falls through and we end up with both Furlong and Mepham, I wont be too unhappy. Furlong will get long-overdue competition and aside from injury cover, it gives Mason options (if we can afford it!). On the left wing, he often plays both Mikey and Grant, substituting one for the other. Both have their own limitations and qualities and he plays them accordingly. Could be the same with Furlong and Mepham?
