A plan - any plan
Originally posted by boingy View PostYawn, stretch. Back to sleep. We dont have the most exciting windows, even when we had some money to spend!
Does any one at the top Nestor or Mason have a transfer plan? Surely they know what gaps need filling, what type of player will fit Mason's vision - if he has one he's kept it secret.
When Mason got the job surely he discussed his vision, the capabilities of the squad.
Or did that ever get discussed?
An assistant store manager at an Asda interview would be asked what he knew of the company and where they might make improvements.
I have a nasty feeling there was no such discussion about playing style, squad strengthening.
So far just management platitudes & trusting that his experience in the prem with quality managers and much higher quality players will be enough.
I don't see this ending well for Mason or the club.
I hope I'm wrong- I know I'm right

Im not pessimistic about the appointment. I just know as a club we operate on a very conservative basis. Tight purse strings. Even in the Prem the best we did was spending around 12 million on one player. Forest go up and spend 250 million on players. Clever spending like Heggem and Price is the way for this club, but then we are just warming them up for another club to snap up.

So very true, let?s hope we can unearth several more gems, rather go the ?Brentford? route than spend, spend, spend that ultimately gets us nowhereOriginally posted by boingy View PostIm not pessimistic about the appointment. Well if Devante Cole and Frabotta fit into Nestors vision we are well and truly f ucked!
Have any clubs submitted bids yet for Bartley, Wallace, Furlong, Mowatt and Dike?

Without having the benefit of checking I'm pretty sure we spent more than ?12M on each of Chadli, Burke, Diangana and Grant. With you entirely on the sentiment of less needing to be be more for us though. We've wasted so much money on comparatively little in return especially when signing on bonuses, wages and agents fees are added to the mix.Originally posted by boingy View PostIm not pessimistic about the appointment. I meant what we spent in the Prem 68. Forgot about Chadli.Originally posted by Albionic68 View PostWithout having the benefit of checking I'm pretty sure we spent more than ?12M on each of Chadli, Burke, Diangana and Grant. Yeah apparently we used the Asda method for recruiting our manager.Originally posted by bordering View PostDoes any one at the top Nestor or Mason have a transfer plan? Surely they know what gaps need filling, what type of player will fit Mason's vision - if he has one he's kept it secret.

Weve rolled back promotion expectations but were seeking a gaffer who knew the Isaac Price was right and that we need to improve on the couple of vegetables up top.

Agree Matt and only speaking about this today. Mason is relatively safe because the expectation last season was understandable play offs where this season it?s mid table. With Furlong in front of Griffiths, Bartley waving, no quality in midfield it will be a long season.
So expectation from me will be mid table and the only bet will be Dike will be in the treatment room before Maja.

low expectations
Peace was right - mid table championship club.
We need a vision , a reboot not platitudes and management consultancy speak.
It won't happen , we'll talk about our heritage etc but will not deliver a vision for success.
Are we not near an all or nothing moment?
Mason and co won't deliver that. Just platitudes and failed strategies-eg old prem players, maybe a spurs loanee but think about it both wrexham and the blues offer more ambition and that means they get the pick .
We'll finish bottom of the top half next season and continue to drift to nowhere- well mid table championship club
THere are models to follow - Brentford Brighton - proven to work but not what the board want.
I think we will have a very average season finish 8-12th but the overall direction is down . Tell me I'm wrong
