Cracking player for us Super Kev. Loved his all round play and goals in the season we somehow went up as champions when Tony Mowbray had the luxurious advantage of that midfield and overall squad over the rest of the division.
Always thought it was unnecessarily sporting of him to handicap us by giving opponents the impression we couldn't defend for toffee to even out the field of play. Unexpected behaviour from a former central defender but there you go.
Super Kev may never even have played for us though had he scored on his England debut against Hungary instead of banging the ball off the keeper's legs or had he been able to bag against Malta. Who knows where it could have taken him?
Still, he had the opportunities of seven more England caps than Bomber and a more than very decent career but who knows what might have been for him and us? Sliding doors for both. Some things are clearly meant to be 😎 .Comment
