  • 'Looming West Brom Crisis'

Was the headline that caught my eye as I opened West Brom News this morning. The crisis was the 6 players out of contract at the end of the season. The 'Big Six' were

    Dike
    Wallace
    Grant
    Maja
    Wildsmith
    Diakite (1 year option)

Imo a more accurate headline might have read

    'Looming West Brom opportunity'

Pure rubbish. Making a standard situation for any club into a crisis 🙄. Theres no real journalism these days.

A more interesting read was on the club's current PSR position and how the Patel/Nestor plan is beginning to show results. Not out of the woods by any means but by the end of this season we may actually break even. Some of the above departing will also clearly contribute to improving our financial situation as well as maybe helping us to hold into other players.

Curiosity got to me too with the click bait headline but nothing we didn't already know. Of the players listed, I think Diakite may prove worthy of his extended contract and we may possibly offer Maja another contract IF he can come back from injury and regain his previous form. I like Heggebo, but we need a goal scorer.

As for the others, Wildsmith not good enough, Wallace too slow now, Dike (even if he comes good this season) sadly too much of an injury risk and Grant -whilst proving his work rate on the pitch and a good option to have-could be improved on for the money. So yes, opportunity seems more apt than "crisis"! 😁

I would get rid of all of them gladly except Diakite and Maja if he proves himself this season and stays fit but don?t think he will. Wallace and Dike - well I would drive them away being the two highest wage earners!

Maja and Dike are proving pointless even in a squad position.
Get both of them out of the treatment room and away from the club. Not sure if anybody would give you anything for any of the rest of the above.

Seeing the 6 names of the players out of contract my immediate response what a great opportunity. 4 of the 6 are forwards. Can we do a similar make over on the attack next season as we have on the defence this? If we can happy days. Very happy days!

Indeed PSR wise, the Heggem and Fellows sales must have significantly helped. Attention is clearly being paid to the wages / income ratio element of PSR.

PS The press are suggesting that the wages ratio at the Vile was 91% !!!!!!!!

PPS Just noticed and read the PSR thread …. apologies.
