We have now dropped to 11th with a strong likelihood of slipping even further down the table after this afternoon's matches. We are in danger of turning into a Norwich if we are not very careful.
As Matt says, we are a work in progress but if, in reality, we are an upper mid-table Championship team, like Norwich, we also have the players to be able to achieve so much more than we are currently doing. That, surely, has to be laid mostly at Mason's door?

If we finished 10th it?s an average season, in my mind. Given we are below that and the performances dont look like we are on the up, he is underperforming.Originally posted by Omegstrat6 View PostWe have now dropped to 11th with a strong likelihood of slipping even further down the table after this afternoon's matches. That said I still feel for him, there is no creativity in this squad.
Dont get the Abella hate. Just typical fickle blokes targeting one man for absolutely no reason other than he is passionate on the touchlines.

Maybe the dislike regarding Abella comes from the fact Big Davies?s assistant at the time had too much control in his ears plus the fact Mason shows less passion himself on the touch line. No coincidence either with Abella there with all this sideways and backwards football and setting up negatively. Now let me think - where did this come from?Originally posted by baggiematt View PostIf we finished 10th it?s an average season, in my mind. I don?t feel for Mason one bit as the style of play in general is boring and dull. Not one single attempt again today! He does not know his best team! If you had gone to Millwall, Watford and today Matt and spent a fortune would you be happy at the absolute garbage seen? As mentioned I don?t mind losing but in two of those games zero attempts on goal and v Watford apart from the goal and Price?s header nothing either!
There are teams in the division who play good football ie Millwall, Bristol, Charlton, Hull but that?s down to their managers. You can?t keep blaming the past! We have the worst government in history but everything is the fault of predecessor?s! Those managers who are playing good football on a shoe string take the plaudits because I?m sure the supporters are happy!
Soon away support will start dwindling and already more empty seats at home are appearing. Win or lose people rightly want to get off their seats rather than take books to matches - not one but numerous!

But thats Big Daves problem, if there is too much influence from those below him and its affecting negatively, thats on the manager.Originally posted by baggieal View PostMaybe the dislike regarding Abella comes from the fact Big Davies?s assistant at the time had too much control in his ears plus the fact Mason shows less passion himself on the touch line. But we dont actually know what type of influence the backing team are providing. What if Abella thinks its all dross and no one is listening to him?
I do agree that there is an issue with how we are setup, how we progress the ball and the movement in the team. The manager has to sort that and if he cant, he will have to go. I still think the side is lacking though in key areas.

Big Dave was new to management at the time and Mason is completely new too! Don?t see Jimmy rushing off the bench with a note pad. The style of football is very similar to CC - boring and dull. Very coincidental!!!Originally posted by baggiematt View PostBut thats Big Daves problem, if there is too much influence from those below him and its affecting negatively, thats on the manager.

Key players I agree but that?s down to the manager. You were the one who mentioned Grimes who is a brilliant and a key player for Coventry - well they paid less for him than we played for Heggebo who to be honest is poor or very average at best! If you sell players due to our financial problems like Fellows and Palmer - you replace them with like for like albeit cheaper! Wallace is past it and if Junior is a Premier player then God help us. Griffiths has improved but certainly no Palmer and their goal was down to him today! Some replacements in key positions and Bostock may as well freeze on the bench if he makes it!
Once again you can guarantee there will be changes again for the Wednesday game.
PS - the moral of the story is like today, Boro away and other matches - although too late - if you bring on attack minded players then perhaps had they started/come on earlier you could have salvaged something!
Awful football Matt and the majority are never wrong. Take a look at all social media posts and even those level headed are slating Mason and the dreadful football.

Abella will always rush off the touchline. He is Spanish ffs. At least he shows some passion. Its a bit illogical though to say the footballs dull lets blame the analyst. Youll be flogging the tea lady next!Originally posted by baggieal View PostBig Dave was new to management at the time and Mason is completely new too! I agree it?s crap football and it isnt working. I havent said otherwise. I still think the team is devoid of good creative players and the manager will need some time. I have disagreed with folk that slated him before it was a problem (some before we had even kicked a ball this season).
I truly believe the sign of a good manager is not that they can get things wrong, it?s how they react and whether they can turn it around. Frank won one in his first 10 games at Brentford.
Frank Lampard has had some torrid times in his career, it?s all clicked into place now though and he fits Coventry like a glove. But if you ask Everton fans what they think of him, different story. His squad was crap and he didnt get a lot of time.

I really hope that the mason appointment isn?t going to be our Wayne Rooney moment. We all know what happened there.this narrative of oh give him time to get his ideas over worked well for them. Sleepwalked into league one, come on Shilen give him 5 or 6 games then evaluate.Originally posted by baggiematt View PostAbella will always rush off the touchline. He is Spanish ffs. Fair points. The bit about Abella was more we are playing the CC way - dull plus sideways and backwards! The Nestor Model or player recruitment is still not working! You mentioned Grimes being great at Coventry and I agree but he cost less than Heggebo who is beginning to frustrate. The midfield has been devoid of pace and creativity since Pereira left and Mowatt/Molumbey are average at best! Why bring in a loan inexperienced player? Grimes was good at Swansea!
For me though it?s not just the lack of talent but the negativity and dull boring football. We start to press too late in many games when there?s intent to rescue something like today again. Have some fkin balls Mason from the off!!!

We?re fortunate that the next three games are against supposedly beatable opposition, however we still need to match them for determination, energy and commitment, luckily it?s not Coventry, Bristol City or Hull otherwise Mason may be gone.
7 points minimum required from the next three games, for that to happen we need to be more positive and at least have a shot
