If Hastie wants regular football, it makes sense to stay with us as he wouldn't feature in the current Rangers side and he can't sign for another team this season. Needs to change his attitude though if the stories I've heard are true.Quote:

Well that's one of the three already gone. Keep hearing about Iversen being recalled and going to Millwall for the rest of the season? If he was to go, would it be because a team higher say in the Championship, would pay a bigger bulk of his wage as opposed to what we are offering? Can't see the point of disrupting his game as he is clearly the number 1 choice keeper with us and has started every game since he arrived.
Barlaser, every chance of this lad being recalled and sold this month. I didn't rate him for the first few games he played for us but boy as he shown what he's about in the last 3 games. Wouldn't be at all surprised if he got recalled.
Of our own current squad, I think Ihiekwe is drawing a lot of attention of late and we could easily see a bid come in for him. What's his value? Young, strong in the air, good in the tackle, all the attributes to become a great player as he progresses through his career, I'd say 2 million at present, however, we are RUFC so expect a sale of about £750,000 plus add ons.

How ambitious is the chairman,Brin ? I shall be very disappointed if Barlaser is recalled and sold to somebody else without us making any attempt to buy him. We have a great opportunity to get automatic promotion with a little bit of investment but,knowing Mr Stewart can't finance Championship football,i have grave doubts that he seriously wants to progress.
We all know Stewart's views on how much he will pay any individual player. I believe Jones is the highest paid player but not over £6,000 a week. Ambition, yes he has that like all chairmen, however, we saw how badly last January was handled but he chose not to invest that may have seen us retain Championship status. He pours loads of his own personal fortune into the club and we should at the end of the day be grateful for that.Quote:

As for progressing the club, you may well be right in that Stewart doesn't want promotion but, we are at the moment looking good candidates for Auto promotion, at least to finish in the play offs. Does Stewart scupper Warne's plans to get promotion? He be a silly man to do so as this could cause a rift between them both.
We will have to wait and see how it all pans out, but don't hold your breath on the money being spent this January.
i disagree brin with TS not wanting to back PW in january last year. the cash was there the willingness of pw was there and since we have seen the departure of johnson whos job it was to get those players lined up in january. its leaning to be where the problem was.
either way one of the 3 didnt do there job correctly
since january TS has sanctioned the signing of 14 players
since january PW has signed 14 players and no doubt had meetings with a lot more
since january we have brought scott in plus his scouting crew (4 blokes total) who has found the club 14 new players and prob numerous others..
imo all 3 are doing a cracking job though it shows haw important it is for a club of our size to have all the right cogs in place.. one cog not pulling his/their weight and we get a failure knock on effect (last january and relegation)
I think that's probably spot on Cayt.
We are always going to be looking at the value / younger end of the market, but I think PW has said in the past he won't pay over the odds in fees or wages if he doesn't think it's value for the club. No intimation that TS has not supported any requests.

The only serious money we've seen spent in 2 seasons was £300,000 for Purrington and £500,000 for Ladapo. I don't know what we got back for Purrington but I'll hazard a guess it's not for off what we paid for him or even more. So actually, our biggest outlay has been on Ladapo, the majority have either been picked up for free or below £100k, can't think of anyone else we paid a big fee for???
i don't think I'm not on my own when you reflect on last Januray why we didn't go that extra mile and get 1 or 2 players in til the season end that may well have kept us up. Don't forget we went down all because of 4 points. Yes Stewart would have had to pay over the odds for their services but and it's a big but, that specualtion could have also returned another 4 Million pounds for staying in the Championship.
Yes, it's all so easy to spend someone else's money but sometimes being brave through speculation can pay dividends and it was only for 12 weeks not a whole season. So far we've acquired the services of another loan and now possibly chasing a player who hasn't kicked a ball for 4 months.....uplifting news it ain't. I know patience is called for but all the talk of there's money to spend, I for one don't believe there is.
Loan players go back so if we were to gain promotion, how would the team stand back in the Championship with the loss of the loan players we would lose? Doesn't bare thinking about....
