I don’t know if he was offered a contract or simply allowed to go.
I am guessing that he would have been one of our higher earners. With the need to reduce the wages bill, perhaps he was a victim of the cuts.
I wish him well. He was part of one of the best defensive units in the PL, so he can’t be that bad. It would seem that his face did not fit as far as “Let’s all take the knee” Southgate was concerned.

While Ben Mee could on rare occasions make a poor choice which led to us conceding a goal, I think that overall he was a fine player and was a credit to Burnley FC.
Ben was out of contracts and I do not know if he was offered a new deal or not, but it looks like he will be playing for Brentford next season and all the best to him.
What is essential that from a week tomorrow we all get behind Vincent Kompany and the team, whoever is playing.

He was comfortable in a Dyche team which depended on a rock solid defence-that itself says he cannot be a bad player.Whether partnering Keane or Tarks he was part of one of the most successful defensive partnerships in the PL.Yes he had a tendency to drop clangers which invariably cost us points but we got six seasons of avoiding relegation mainly because of our defence.One thing I would say is that he seemed to be slowing down last season.Quote:
