I don't see how erasing history helps at all. Colston had been doing good things. His statue was there for the good things he did. Are we near to saying that because Floyd had done some bad things he deserved to be mistreated in the same way as the statue (and all its surrounding area too?) should be mistreated? Dangerous ground and dangerous to try and impose our morals on a different era.
Better that the statue had a better explanation and a reason for the City of Bristol to want it to be shown else we'll end up burning all the books too. Now when was it that happened?
