Nice photo mate, brings out the classic lines of the loco perfectly. You look pretty good in that Kilt as well!
Those A3 pacific locos were among my favorites. Of course we never saw them in Wolverhampton but I use to go regularly to Bradford when I was a kid to visit my Aunt and Uncle, from there I would make day trips by train to Doncaster on the east coast mainline. Heaven!
The line from Bradford/Leeds joins the east coast main line just north of Doncaster station and as we joined it very often our train would run parallel with a Edinburgh to London train invariably hauled by an A3, a sight never to be forgotten!
A large number of the A3's were named after famous horses, specifically Derby winners, in fact 60051 Blink Bonny was the first A3 I ever saw, at the very location described above. As I said, unforgettable.
Thanks Woodie, however, some might say I look more like the bagpipe itself, rather than the piper. I should also point out that the furthest North that my ancestors got, as far as I know was Lancashire. Also I think I'd have to go for a Black & Gold kilt .... I'm SURE that Greavsey will oblige.
