re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
[quote="LawSteelman"]I'm not even asking for a Cup win, just for us to stop whimpering out at the first hurdle of every competition we enter. That's part of the reason why we have no money as you say.
Since February 2012 when we beat Morton we have won one, ONE solitary game in a knock out competition out of something like six****. That is disgraceful, obscene even. And perhaps more worryingly, out of all of those losses there is not one that we can point to and say we were unfortunate to lose because we were murder in every single one of them and deployed the wrong tactics, wrong shape and were second best in attitude in them all too and I hold McCall responsible for that.
Attitudes Iike 'ah we're a small club, no money, no fan base' are what McCall and those higher at Fir Park thrive on, because it reeks of a losers mentality and it excuses pathetic showings in important cup ties which have the potential to bring revenue into the club and perhaps even mo
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
All of the complaints on this thread and others suggests a lack of professionalism and lack of direction at the club.
Are we bound to find our level and be one of the first in the SPFL to go Semi-Pro?
And get a plastic pitch so that we can earn money 24/7 from the community?
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
SEMI PRO, LACK OF MONEY are just a couple of issues I have raised over the past few months.
Both these issues go hand in hand the way our club is being run.
I dont think a change of manager would do much better with the current squad either,he would need some money and time again , both things the club does not have at present.
Its as if the whole blue print for the club needs rubbed out and started again.
Honestly I think relegation could be a good thing for our club ,to start over and get going again, with other personal at the top of the tree or person to take us forward and yes semi pro , plastic pitch , would help cash flow, look at some of the scandanavian teams who are semi pro, far better than us and alot if not most scottish sides.
Better players and financally stronger.
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
Relegation would be an absolute catastrophe for us, (imo we won't get relegated this year, but it is a possibility at this stage. However, we will finish significant further down the league, TF Ross County are so bad). Why would going down benefit us? I agreed, I would also like to see positive changes to the way our club is run. Better PR for a start. Why can't these changes for the long term stability of our club, both on and off the pitch (whatever they maybe) be made when we compete in the mid to lower reaches of the SPFL for a couple of seasons with a few glorious Cup runs thrown in!!!
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
Yes, relegation would be financially disastrous. For what its worth I don't think we'll finish in the bottom 2 or 3. That said the club does seem to be treading water just now and that atmosphere of lethargy is spreading to the fans. You need money to compete in the Premiership but clubs like Hamilton, St Johnstone, Inverness and Partick show what can be achieved on a limited budget. Its not all down to cash but rather to how it is spent.
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
The only way relegation and starting again with new people at the helm would work as you say would be if we had some form of financial backing to support us because otherwise relegation would almost certainly drive a nail into our coffin. Sadly though there are two chances of us getting financial backing in this day and age and the first one of them is f&ck all because there are no rich investors waiting in the wings.
However we absolutely do require some major overhauling within the club, from top to bottom. It is becoming very clear that fan ownership just won't work, for various reasons, and since Leeann Dempster left the club appear more rudderless than ever. The fact that the same guy who used to write the programmes and update the website until May there has been fast tracked into a general manager role is proof positive of that.
I hate to keep repeating myself but we are a sinking ship as a club and I honestly don't see a good future for us and us going part time/semi pro is i
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
The only thing I take issue with in what you say LSM,is about the team and the manager. The fall in standard or player is a symptom of what you are talking about, and not the cause. I still disagree with you on Stuart McCall, as I think he is doing his best with what he has.Like you however, I do fear for the future of the club.
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
In the past two and a half years we have lost several cup ties in very winnable matches due to truly inept and dire performances from both team and manager.
For a large chunk of that period we were also the best of the rest in terms of player quality yet bottled it against a poor Aberdeen side in the QF of the 2012 Scottish Cup, surrenderd meekly against a rank rotten 'The Rangers' who had a team of kids on the park in the league cup the following season then whimpered out to Aberdeen again in the same season's Scottish Cup before doing the same in last season's league Cup despite them being down to 10 men for 77 minutes and we couldn't even manage a shot on target...then there was Albion Rovers, Stjarnan, and finally this week's Accies debacle. Those ties were ALL very winnable for us yet we deservedly lost every single one of them and thus haemorrhaged God knows how much money in the process. The reason we lost those ties was, in my opinion, because Stuart McCall failed to prepare
re: MCCALL YOUR A DISGRACE
Absolutely on the mark. We've had our fill of cup failures over the past few years and as you said the fans are scunnered by it, I know I am. McCall was in the press this week saying he'd happily give up on a decent league placing for decent cup run. For me the rangers exit was the hardest to take, even that was more disappointing than the albion rovers debacle last season, that result really p***** me off big time and we've lurched from one cup disaster to the next since. I'm getting really fed up with the club and the cup efforts at the moment. I didn't go to the first two home games of the season because of the stjarnan debacle, and still don't really have the motivation for games at the moment. If things don't improve on and off the pitch I won't be renewing my season ticket for next year. I know league wise over the past few years we've done well, but we know before a ball is kicked we wont be winning that, our best chance of silverware is cups, but to sit back and watch sides lik
