Thank you Chauncey, I will try and do one now and again but have to admit to chickening out of Crawley and Gillingham. I have never forgiven Crawley for calling off the match as we pulled into the car park 8 years ago and Gillingham is just, well, Gillingham.
It's always difficult to choose a favourite ground because the experience is naturally coloured by the game and the people on the day. When I did agency work I used to enjoy Man City. They looked after you well. There used to be a lady who looked after the photographers with tea and coffee and sandwiches. If you were sending photos from pitchside at half time you would get a tap on the back and there she was with a cuppa. I always enjoyed going there but not driving back in the dark and rain. There always seemed to be road works and whenever I thought I had memorised the route there was another diversion. I've done Wembley but not particularly enjoyed it.
Really I don't have the same interest in the top layer of football. I enjoy proper football that means something to fans who go to football matches, not the stuff followed on the tv and controlled by video playbacks. I always enjoyed Accrington Stanley, Hartlepool is usually a good day out when I'm snapping Carlisle, and I miss Bury.
I've been to Notts County quite a few times. When I was in the press box I seem to remember there was very little space but it's probably been altered since then. They treat photographers ok. You will hate me for saying this but my favourite there was the 15/16 season. Of course, I loved the scoreline and plenty of celebrations. Our fans were dressed up with a Robin Hood theme so plenty of photos to take there as well. At one point in a lull between goals, a fan waved at me and I turned and took their photo, he was so chuffed (maybe read overindulged), he started to chant my name and "she's one of our own", the first time that happened. It was done in fun, but never underestimate the power of a crowd, it's a wonderful feeling to be part of the Carlisle United clan.
I will probably go next season if we are in the same league but hopefully, even if you come up we will still be a league above.
