On NS, he sails close to the line but hasn’t done anything illegal “yet” things may change with a new government.
I loved watching Alf garnet, it seemed simpler times but the people Alf gave abuse too gave him it back, I know it was fiction but it’s what made it, now everything is offensive and you can’t say anything for upsetting someone.
NS got a permanent ban because he said our new physio could get pregnant, a fact of life. To be honest his not bothered at all.
I am also a fan of Alf Garnet. He is from my Dads generation and both he and Alf stood for many of the proper British values that are being eroded away these days, the most important one is RESPECT. Especially respect for the dead.
Alf Garnet wouldve given you a bigger *******ing then anyone if he knew you were disrespecting the dead in the way you did. People can have opinions of course, but there is a time and a place. A commemoration thread is neither of those for critisism.
Andrew Jenkins was kind and generous. I am sure he would not mind your misstep if you were to learn from it, so make sure you do. Lets try and get back to having those British values (respect, fair play, hard work, manners etc) that are increasingly vanishing from society

The problem with that, of course, is that racists aren’t very bright. By definition.
They do not see the absurdity of Alf’s hatreds. They just love hearing someone saying the stuff that Alf is saying.
In mentioning Alf Garnett earlier in the thread my intention was simply to explain that I do not believe in banning people from message boards for saying things that Alf Garnett might have said.
Far better to let them keep spouting their racist bile so that we can clearly see them for what they are.
I remember when Margaret Thatcher died and on the day people cheered played the witch is dead and a get the song “the witch is dead” to number 1. Imo one of the best prime ministers the country had and gave her life to the country.
Now I’m not comparing the two as such but people are entitled to their opinions, nothing illegal in it.
It’s a messageboard not a book of condolence. I didn’t disrespect the dead I gave my condolences and stated I wasn’t a fan, perfectly fine in my world.
On Alf Garnet, he spoke his mind and gave his opinion constantly. It’s likely today he’d get a criminal record.

People should always have the right to say what they want regardless of what it is,If Alf Garnet was a poster on a forum he would have been red carded because he didn’t hold the views of the majority and it’s very easy to get offended in todays world,infact there are people out there looking on the internet just for something to be offended about,I’m guessing that timing wasn’t the best in this scenario nor the thread that it was put on and views should have been put on the back burner for a week or so

Now moonie is threatening to ban Piglet for a very minor offence. Is it really a coincidence that the most critical voices (Piglet, northernsoul, Mullen) are slowly getting banned from there? Someone putting pressure on him to find reasons to silence them?

(I think Mullen was massively out of order for negative comments about Mr Jenkins on a tribute thread, but that doesnt mean you ban him)
Generally no, but when the threats of litigation and solicitors letters come you have to think twice. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that, eh?
