It all happened pretty quick but essentially the ref played the advantage when Haaland was pulled back. But then Haaland drags the Liverpool player back preventing him clearing the ball so he's had to pull play back.

That's basically what Gary Neville was saying anyway.

Buddy, at the time the foul was committed, the ball had not crossed the line, although it was heading that way.

The letter of the law was applied and rules are there for that reason. Yes it took all the joy and momentum from the game, which was a good one.

Think of the worst case scenario, I don't think it will ever happen, but it could.

You let that goal stand for the 'good of the game' It's the final game of the season and both A.rsenal and City are on identical points but City are 1 goal better off having been granted 'that goal'.

Result on the final day, both A.rsenal and City win with the same scoreline. City win the title by 1 goal difference! There would be the biggest meltdown ever in Premiership football if that were to happen. Rules are there to be imposed if an infringement takes place as it covers all eventualities and possibilities.

What didn't help was that the Ref didn't blow for the foul and VAR intervened to apply the letter of the law.

Great game of football, the free kick by Liverpool, & the save by City goalkeeper were worth the entrance fee.
Then we have the spice to the game at the end, with football rules winning the day.
