Careful, having a sarcastic sense of humour will get you stoned to death

Richly deserved...
Don't flatter yourself! Wind me up? Oh dear it would take more than a vacuous racist, lying lump of ****e like you to do that. Your not worth debating with, you talk utter *******s and your even more deluded than Thicky, who bless his heart actually believes what he posts!
So **** off and do one, not remotely interested in what you have to say and have better things to do with my time than interreact with a waster like you.
Lol...now that’s quite funny. On your part...not the Knighthood. I’d missed it yesterday until someone said ‘have you heard about Williamson’?
I have to admit it did provoke a Victor Meldrew moment, albeit an expletive ridden one.
For one glorious second I thought he might have been dispatched to Moscow - to tell the Russians to ‘shut up and go away’ again - or bitten by his pet tarantula - he honestly has one...it’s called Cronus after the King of the Titans and the God of Time who was said to have castrated his father and eaten his own children - which should tell us a lot.
But seriously...why? I know we’ve fallen low enough to have dangerous idiots in at least three of the four great offices of state but ‘Sir Gavin’?
Sacked by May as Defence Secretary...for the leaking of information. Sacked again last year...after proving to be arguably the most incompetent Education Secretary of all time...so who thought, I know, let’s give him a Knighthood?
In the real world...don’t we aim to reward people for doing a good job...not for being incompetent buffoons? In the words of VictorA, ‘I don’t ducking believe it!’ You have to wonder exactly what he knows...and about who?
Im not sure about Cronus but croney(ism) for sure.
A "bloke in the pub" asked me last week to name the last British prime minister not to have been elevated to peerage / knighted following a decent period of "mourning" after termination of office - for which purpose we excluded Theresa May and Gordon Brown as the most recent incumbents within their respective parties. We came up with Neville Chamberlain..... who probably died before he would have got recognition anyway.
We then returned to our heated debate about why Blair's peerage has not been rescinded
On a more serious note, I suspect these honours are given for service, rather than performance and in the overall scheme of life are pretty meaningless.
Also bear in mind that Victor Meldrew received an OBE !
Honestly my first thought was of you, jointly with nearly crashing on the inner ring road as I tried to process the news.
In the real world - yes we should, ‘we’ would but ‘they’ operate in a different world. Such injustice is at maybe 30 on a scale of ‘lost the plotness’ that has Ras Putin at 100
Hmmm...and I bet you were laughing.
I think I’d put it at a lot more than ‘30’, just on the basis of the contempt it shows for those who genuinely deserve such awards, but I take your point and it all rather pales into insignificance just at the moment...which may well be behind the precise timing of such a move.
