Just to stop you & AFC1803mad going all prom queen, and for clarity, I’m not dissing the lad at all.
All I said was talk of us signing an international striker has been brought in to some perspective & reality with the signing of someone who hasn’t played a first team game or scored a first team goal.
What’s wrong with that?
Stating a fact.
I don't think anybody is writing him off, rather more questioning the reasoning behind it. We all he hope he does well but what can we reasonably expect from a young loon with three senior league appearances and no goals coming to league he knows nothing about for six months.
We might as well give our own youngsters experience and see if we can improve them. If they aren't good enough then they shouldn't be here.
Ironically Cosgrove is quick but his 'big guy centre forward stuff' isn't so flash. Credit where it's due some of his finishes from 10-25 yards (Motherwell, St.Mirrren and St. Johnstone spring to mind) were non bigmanesque. Problem is they when he's there defenders are tempted to go long. I'd like to see us hit the chest of the guy in the middle Main is better at the back to goal stuff and so is McGinn.
Anyway Cosgrove is fckd hence the discussion.
I’m not questioning MSM at all.
I’m just saying today’s news is a reality check & some perspective to where we are financially.
I’m not saying the guy Edmondson is pish or fantastic. We don’t know.
Hopefully AFC1903mad & feck the huns have spare underwear :O
Good luck to the lad assuming he signs.
I think he’ll start at McDiarmid if Bruce draws a blank against SEVCO tomorrow.
You must be questioning MSM if they tell us an international striker is coming in and with heavy hints towards Fletcher (not Jordan Rhodes but...) and you're, rightly I think, reminding us of our weak current financial standing?
I really hope he doesn't drop Anderson if he doesn't have the impact he wants. He needs a run of games before judgements on his longer term suitability are cast.
He has extended his contract at Leeds before coming here on loan
We possibly “asked the question” (c/o McInnes) of Fletcher & when he told us his wage requirements we moved on.
McInnes did say they’ve been looking for a striker since last Saturday.
As for Anderson, I just don’t think McInnes trusts him to lead the line.
He prefers a big strong no9, hence the potential
Edmondson signing.
I always get the feeling Bruce has to score to keep his place, which isn’t really fair.
But that’s what I think might happen.
If he gets no change out of SEVCO’s back 4, he’ll be subbed off after 65 & on will come Edmondson if he signs & will start the week after.
Just my opinion.
