Gemmill was one of my favourite Derby Players, I had the honour of working for his Mum a few years Back & all of his medals were kept At his mums home. I spent ages Admiring them Having watched him win a couple of them with Derby

I remember Archie's predecessor in the side. Another pocket battleship, Willie Carlin. I first saw Archie play against us for PNE in the Cup. he caused us lots of problems both there and in the replay. Then we signed him soon afterwards.

Many thanks. I dunno if this site RSSF still exists, they used to keep records of every game. I remember reliving each of Forest's 1978 title winning side's games relative to position. I probably could do it for Derby but it's so much better to get it from a fan of the club. The passion is there, the memory is there.
I went to every home game in 74/75 title winning season & although a long distant memory now ! Some of the games stand out, Mainly the last away game at the Ground best described as a Stand & 3 sheds LOL (Filbert street) When we thought we had won the League & Me and many other Derby Fans Celebrated on the Pitch (Happy Days )
Yes those halcyon days. Whenever I hear the song below my memory takes me back to 1978-1980

Watching some of the videos brought some interesting stuff as I walked down memory lane.
1) Gawd awful mud larking pitches! I seriously wonder if present players can thrive in those conditions? A real tribute to those players then, although they are probably not as fit as the average player today, it was still a tough ask to play football in those conditions. You needed to be tough while still retaining skill. They could still dribble and pass accurately in the mud!
2) Players looked decidedly 'fat' compared to those today, but they could really strike a ball, dribble and cross.
3) Some classy players from all sides - yours Gemmill, Lee, Todd, George, Rioch and Davies. I saw Jimmy Greenhoff, oh wow, such a classy player. Brooking, Moore, Francis, Tueart.
4) Sardine packed grounds. Football on Saturday was the main event of the week.
5) And lastly remember then, referees didn't carry cards. You got a yellow if your name was in the book and he informed you. To sent you off, he had to point.
yes but we didn't know it at the time, Ipswich (I think) failed to win the following Wednesday and the team heard the news at the annual awards night, at Baileys I think. There's a famous photo of Frannie Lee dancing on a table in celebration. I'm sure they were still hung over on the saturday.
Not mentioned yet is the true hero of the 74/75 season, anyone care to enlighten the inquisitive Romanis? Or maybe you don't even agree.....
