Let me just clarify my position on this matter. I am not suggesting that ‘leavers’ are not capable of understanding all the issues, my point is that all the issues were not out in the open when the referendum took place. We were lied to by both sides and with their scare tactics, the ‘Remain’ campaign was, in my opinion, highly influential in turning people to vote leave. Over the years that the UK has been in the EU, all our governments have failed to communicate the benefits we have enjoyed, all we have ever heard is how the EU is biased against us. Sure, all things are not rosy in the EU and reform is badly needed, but I believe we should be an active and enthusiastic partner to bring about such reform. So much goes on in the EU that we never hear about, how could we have had an informed vote when hardly anything is communicated to us. I also believe that ‘Leave’ voters will be the most betrayed by Brexit because the shambles that it has all become will leave us in a big mess, nobody in government or opposition has the faintest idea how to proceed! How can any good come of that? The one thing that we should all agree on, though, is that the country has been put in this mess by the Conservatives. Appalling government, disastrous decision making (or lack of) making them almost impossible to vote for again. Unfortunately, the alternative is that hypocrite Corbyn-led! Maybe things could get worse?

I don't fancy Corbyn at all.
But what an incompetent useless Foreign Secretary we had (until last week). I read this morning that this oaf had backed "Brexit" AND "Remain" in 2016 - ie only months before calling himself the Leader of the Brexiteers. In other words he mumbled and fumbled until he saw an opening for self-advancement, and then stood 100% behind Brexit, and told millions of voters that "we'd save £350m pw which would go directly into the NHS"!!! Of course, many undecideds believed him.
Why is that not a criminal offence? Hanging's too good for the buffoon - I'd put the gibbering idiot in irons for the rest of his sad life.

I’ve brought this up many times but nobody gives a coherent response on the “remain” side.

We are a small island and if nett immigration continued at 300,000 per year then at what point in the next 100-200 years would shutting the door become neccessity as we’d be stood shoulder to shoulder and would need to s h I t standing up and ask the person next to us to wipe our a r s e whilst in return doing the same for them!

The problem with most in power is that they are “career” politicians and have never had a proper job.

I’d rather have a Prime Minister who has had success in the world of business running my country,the ability to negotiate in a “hard nosed” fashion is lost on wets like May and Cameron.

I don’t care if that person is from the left or from the right ......just someone who is a streetwise operator.

Andy Street who ran John Lewis and is now mayor of Brum would do a better job......so too would Bob Geldof......anybody but the present t w a t s.

I voted out on the basis that I knew what I was voting for but I never thought for a minute the negotiations would be so shambolic and one sided.

Cameron should’ve told Juncker and Merkel that failure of Europe to come up with a decent compromise would mean he would have no choice other than to put our membership to a vote that he would likely lose.

Total incompetence on both sides.

Although I voted out I’d probably go the other way now such has been the cluster f u c k.

The growth in the UK population IS a massive problem.
The UK has the third biggest population in the EU behind Germany and France. It's forecast in the next 50 years we will have overtaken them both having increased from 65 to 82 million (Germany's is forecast to reduce as they have a birthrate problem.)
Something has to be done and the end of Freedom of Movement is a start.
And the pop. of Scotland, Wales and N.I. is forecast to be static so they are all coming to a place near you.

For what its worth, I really like Gary Lineker.

He's an England footballing legend. And he speaks a lot of sense, moreso than most politicians.

Yet people disagree with his view and so slate him....standard place of where we are at in society.

Brexit is a disaster, was always likely to be a disaster, will be a disaster if we keep on this course and will no doubt make us poorer. Its like a non violent episode of game of thrones, with career politicians trying to further their career at the expense of the country.

Its damage limitation time....

But playing devil's advocate, let me turn my statement on its head;

"Brexit is going swimmingly well, it will definitely make us better off and I have full faith in this Tory govt negotiating the best terms of our exit from the European Union"

Just by quoting media slogans like 'Project Fear' means nothing. There's no substance in there.

Brexit has created a huge division in society. I don't appreciate being called a remoaner who is pushing some kind of 'fear' agenda anymore than you wouldn't appreciate me labeling you as a stupid leaver who believes in unicorns and project fantasy. It doesn't really get us anywhere.

In the 70’s we as a people voted to join a trading union the Common Market......the clue is in the word market.

We wanted to buy things like bananas.....not be told what shape they had to be.

The idea of a trading union made good sense.

Over the next 45 years its the political elite who have made the decision to get us trapped into an ever tighter political union without having the wit to work out long term consequences or to ensure what the exit strategy would be for any country changing its mind in the future.

If the people had had to vote for each treaty I suspect we would’ve bailed out long ago.
