Yes, Lineker can be irritatingly smug at times but on this issue he is correct. Brexit is a disaster. Conservatives split down the middle, Labour split down the middle and all the others are nonentities. If you are going to do a job, any job, then either do it properly or don’t do it at all. Cameron didn’t give us the referendum for our benefit, he did it to try to heal a rift in the Tory party, there was no strategy for a ‘leave’ vote, so inevitably, it has been a shambles. The losers, of course, will be us. The MPs, among whom there is supposed to be a majority of remainders, should now vote in the interests of the country and drop the whole Brexit nonsense.

It's a pity useless Ted Heath didn't warn UK that we could never leave* when we had the Referendum in '73.

    * if every EU Nation votes to leave one-by-one, there will be multi-billion Euros left for the last-man-standing (presumably Germany).

states to leave..they sure aint our friends ..sooner we get out the better.

i believe in this nation of ours irrespective who is in government....
what needs to be done is tell them to give us a tidy deal or forget any

reading your reply, you give the impression of shall we say of linekers ilk.i knew exactly what I was voting for and the problems that was coming.the referendum was a democratic vote that’s what democracy is,Cameron called the referendum because he thought the leave camp had no chance that’s why it was held.what do you want a best of three.the jcb chairman Anthony bam ford Witherspoon’s chairman Tim Martin.who you must agree a two very successful businessman are in the leave camp.saying it will make no difference in fact it could well benefit the uk.iyou say a majority of mps are remainers cause they are they want to join the kinnocks in Brussels on the gravy train.

He's right about it being a shambles.

Theresa Maybe Maybenot has made a right pig's ear of the negotiations.

At the start we needed to go in with a united front demanding everything and giving little. You then let Brusselsa come back with want they can and can't accept and you give a little in return for a concession say a few billion for the divorce bill in return for a trade deal.

    It's really basic stuff.

You're right to a degree, it really does seem like basic stuff. But when you have division within allied to stubborn egotism, and an opposition lacking the whit to separate national politics and the back and forth of the playground from global economic consequences then you're on a downward spiral.

You will never have a united front for strong discussions if you're divided and consequently open at the back to a right fisting over the negotiating table. The time for whinging and whining has long since passed.

Hopefully Mrs Maybenot can drag something from the flames of her own incompetence and the divisive politics of her self serving opponents, both from within and outside of her own ranks. Hell may have to freeze over first though.
