When will our Ministers recognise that the two countries in the world with the highest number of deaths are Trump's USA and Johnson's UK. Our graph line which is two weeks behind most European countries is on a much steeper rise than others shown on the graph and statistically at 29,427, went above Italy. The Office for National Statistics say the true figure is 32,375.
The margin of error caused by different methods of counting and different population sizes in different countries will be blown arta the water by next week's figures.
USA 70,007 deaths, 333 mill population
UK 29,427 or 32,375 deaths, 66 mill population
Italy 29,315 deaths, 60 mill population
Spain 25,428 deaths, 47 mill population
France 25,201 deaths, 68 mill population
Germany 6,993 deaths, 83 mill population
South Korea 254 deaths, 52 mill population
Let's hope Johnson doesn't follow his good friend Trump in rushing to get the USA "back to work" now. The fantastic trade deal talks between USA and UK following Brexit are underway.

How do we explain the Swedish approach (not in the list)?
Less than 3,000 deaths, only 120,000 tests, no lockdowns, bars open.
I'm afraid people use comparisons too often without taking into account all the factors.
Much the same as most average size football clubs want to know why they can't be like Burnley.
They conveniently ignore all the larger clubs struggling in the lower leagues.
Age of population, number of care homes etc. make a big difference.
We don't tend to look after our elderly very well in this country compared to many others.
They're seen as a burden once they're too old to look after the grandkids - stick them in a home.
How many secretly filmed abuses have been shown on national news over the years?
Humiliating, beating, stealing from old folks.
Although there are many loving, caring people in the business, not every key worker is a saint.
You only need one or 2 in a care home and you're in trouble.
'The majority of deaths involving COVID-19 have been among people aged 65 years and over (24,009 out of 27,356), with 43% (10,410) of these occurring in the over-85 age group.
In 91% of cases the individuals had other health problems'.
USA & the UK aren't known for being fit & healthy, apparently being obese, heart problems and high blood pressure accounts for many besides the obvious.
China denied its existence for months. They even put pressure on doctors that blew the whistle on it.
How many Chinese tourists visited London, New York, Rome & Paris in that time?
A lot more than visited Korea & Germany (or Sweden).
As for South America, Africa & Asia they're digging mass graves by the thousand and have rotting corpses in the street.
Their losses will never be counted accurately, but will probably total millions when all this is over.
This government has made mistakes, but There isn't a government that hasn't.
If you want shambles, look at football.
They submit new plans and new deadlines every other day.
Listening to phone ins makes you realise what an impossible task it is.
Nobody can agree on anything.
You introduce lockdown, nobody wants it. It's too early, then it's too late.
When you start talking about removing it, nobody wants them to.
I've said before I'm neither Tory, nor Labour.
Labour might not have made the same mistakes, but the mistakes they did make would probably mean a similar outcome.
Good post Hodger. It's worrying how the nations wi art good healthcare systems and extreme poverty will cope. I don't see how they can. I dread to think of the death toll in African and south American countries in 6 months time. India will also be hit massively.
I think travel abroad will be verboten for a very long time to come. We as a nation could've done better. However, when you factor in certain things that you pointed out then you can see why things have escalated. London has at least double the amount of cases compared to other major cities in the UK. The amount of tourism is a major factor in that statistic I expect
I can't list them all Hodge. I have only put those that appear on the Govt Press conference graphs ie those European countries broadly equivalent to us in population size. For information-
Sweden 2854 deaths, population 10 million
(Sweden's 10 mill compared to UK's 66 mill = 6.6 x 2854 = 18,836 pro rata compared to our 29427 maybe Cummings was right with herd immunity )
As i said in my post we are two weeks behind in totals for Care Homes so a fair chunk to add on to our total. Eventually the gap between our figures and equivalent countries becomes so large that it exceeds the amount that can be explained away by collection differences.
Having just watched half an hour of live coverage from the House of Commons I'm surprised we're not all dead.
Discussing the census a procession of idiots demanding different boxes adding to cover LQGTQ+ identification, Sikhs, Cornish people, Welsh speaking people but nothing about Clingons.
How about halving the number of boxes instead of doubling.
Everyone wants their own bloody box.
The LGBTQ+ woman rambled on for that long the speaker had to put everyone else on timer.
A just caught the back end of it befooar Prime Ministers Questions.
Tharron sacred ground wi this one Hodge. No one dare criticise wot these people say for fear of being labelled racist, anti-feminist homophobe, anti this, anti that etc. So ivverboby agrees with wottivva stuff is sed,
Johnson finally appeared. He still looks badly to me. Shunt be art. Needs some Lucozade.
He's in for a much rougher ride from Starmer than from Corbyn. Starmer's legal background shows with his questions and manner.
- on Hancock's testing target, "What was special about 30th April that the tests peaked on that day to a level not repeated ?"
--"Why is the Prime Minister informing the nation of important new measures on a Sunday when it is normal to allow Parliament some scrutiny first? Answer "Because some may start Monday morning"
Johnson is trying to distance himself from "austerity" by saying he won't say the word. He hasn't been so coy when voting for it ovva the last ten years.
He should distance himself from Trump
I dread to think how many phone calls have passed between the pair of idiots over Covid matters
Blair was labelled Dubyas' poodle
Looks on the evidence of actions & comments Bozo is going down the same route
I have no idea whether Labour would have made a better fist of dealing with the crisis than the Tories. What I do know is that the Tories fiercely opposed the establishment of the NHS in the 1940's and did everything they could to stop it.
I also know since that time successive Tory governments have starved the NHS of resources.
In 2011 Andrew (now of course Lord) Lansley reorganised the NHS to make it competitive and efficient in the belief that competition increases efficiency. As though Doctors and Nurses go to work to compete! His final master stroke was to allow private companies, often American, to bid for NHS contracts with the aim of privatising the system.
A more recent government contribution in 2016 was to have a rehearsal for a pandemic. The conclusion was that the system would not be able to cope with it due partly to not having enough storage of PPE enough available beds. Of course they ignored the findings and carried on banging on about Brexit.
