McMann was my POTY this year. Getting 2 players better than him in that position is going to be challenging.
He is of an age though where this would have to be his "big contract" so perhaps that has been the thinking....the cost to quality maybe didn't add up fully.
Optimists will look at this as a sign that we will have quality identified to come in. Pessimists will think it is a worrying sign of our budget if we are not keeping McMann as a squad player.
I am a football optimist to a fault normally, but can't help but feel a little pessimistic this time

Like a few others I'm disappointed to see Scott McMann leave - the feel good factor didn't last long. There must be a few others in the squad (apart from the others announced) who are worried about their place after this decision. I wonder how much input Michael Cairney has had in these decisions considering he is pretty much just in the door? It's going to be an interesting summer.

I reckon we have a couple of targets for that position. We made him an offer that he rejected. But I suspect that offer was based on a squad player/back-up option. Maybe he wanted a guaranteed start? If that is the case then I wish him well in the future.
We've got to accept that we are still in rehabilitation following the relegation in 2022. Financially, the club can't afford to be anything other than value-for-money focused in our challenge to re-establish ourselves as an SPL team next season.
