Unfortunately Grist that would then just give fans/pundits another stick to beat them with if they chose not to use VAR and it turned out they had made a 'clear and obvious error'.

It's the "Clear and Obvious error" that does my nut in.

It shouldn't take 3 minutes, views from umpteem different angles, 3 slide rules and a multitude of coloured vertical and horizontal lines to clear up something that's "CLEAR and OBVIOUS"

If it can't be resolved in (say) 15 seconds then stick with the on field decision

Only if the VAR people give them access to their video footage

Then Sky ( as before) would have to depend on their own recordings

Give each team 3 "appeals" against decisions
If they're correct they keep the appeal, if not they lose it
