Familiar comments circulating on here again.
Many will be happy to see Llorente gone so i'll add my opinion on matters of alleged delays on who'll be coming in after our clear-out of the renegade PL signings.
Basically not flipping easy nowadays chasing a player for starters if we've not been sounding them out since the turn of year & certainly not easy getting rid of contracted players likewise.
Gotta realise if a club no longer wished to keep a player then they'd have to pay all his remaining wages in the contract & release him to become a free agent.
If the player wanted to leave the club (which is not willing to sell) he either has to pay his release clause (if there's one in the contract) or the club divides the fee that they'd paid for him.
This would be done per day, then be multiplyed by the number of days he'd been at the club. They'd then reduce the total by subtracting off any expenses on injuries, etc.
What's left is subtracted off the total fee they'd paid for him & the player then pays what's remaining.
This would then releases him from the contract making him a free agent to leave !
Otherwise, if a player doesn't want to leave or a club we're not willing to sell, then the player stays at the club - simples.
I often read the renown CIES Football Observatory reports & noted articles on transfers among many other issues of the game, for interest to share.

1.Generally speaking, all other things being equal, the prices of players have increased annually by 9.0% over the past decade.
This average was 13.8% between the 2013/14 & 2019/20 seasons then -0.2% during the three seasons following the pandemic.
2.However, after having dropped sharply in 2021/22, the prices of footballers have now returned to grow since 2022/23, suggesting a rapid return to record levels.
The sums involved in the transfer of players by professional football clubs worldwide has strongly increased over the past decade.
The total of about €9 billion/ $9,782,820,000.00 (£7,574,592,273.30)* measured for the 2022/23 season is the second highest since the record 2019/20 season, i note.
3.It is not surprising to notice that the prices of players recruited by EPL clubs have increased more than those of footballers signed by teams outside of this championship: +12.6% as opposed to 8.0% annually.
4.FYA, i noted inflation was also particularly marked for centre backs (+12.5%), full backs (+11.1%), as well as for players aged 21 or under (+12.8%).
Concluding gems are rare & average ability costs & both come with huge risk.
Just saying
