I'm sure the vast majority of fans aren't getting carried away. Anybody who has suffered most games this season will be well aware of the players' limitations, but last night was a breath of fresh air for so many reasons. It feels like a big black (Scottish!) cloud has been dispersed.
It was a bit rough around the edges, but the togetherness was clearly evident last night. It was great to see, as was Hamshaw's connection with the team. The guy clearly has passion and the players responded to it. We might finally get to see some of these players fulfill the potential they show on paper.
Regarding the chants on Saturday, personally I didn't get involved, but I could understand it. I think the players did as well. I thought it interesting that they all come over to the North Stand at the end to clap the fans and took full force without flinching. They get it... and at least it shows them that the fans care and have passion.
And how good does it feel to have a proper Rotherham fan as manager. It will be a totally different atmosphere on Saturday and I'm really looking forward to it..... for a change!
Not sure how anyone could moan about last night,if you can`t see the positives, and enjoy moments like that, then you need to find another hobby.
I really hope Matt does well and is offered the job full time,I`ve got a sneaky feeling he could be another Warne, right now, this is exactly what the club needs.
Good luck Hammy.
Thing is towner. We have played like last night 4 or 5 times this season and most fans moaned at those performances so why would you not expect them to moan about last night.
This squad (this is only my opinion and I've said it before) is above AVG for this league. Sadly 80% of the performance have been below AVG which would contradict my first statement.
But neither you, nor any of us, know what the players have endured under the departed gobshyte. Go watch the Undr The Cosh videos and then ask yourself the question 'would I give ANYTHING to him?'
The one where he shoves Paul Gascoigne off the ball to 'teach' him how to take a free kick is a revelation.
The real question is 'why did we hire this bursted milk bag ONCE, let alone twice?'
Finally our players are putting some effort in and you could see glimmers of the organisation that's been sadly lacking and hopefully Hamshaw will bring to the challenging task he has taken on. Evans managed to assemble a collection of chronically ordinary players.even at this dreadful level. Northampton were poor, despite our awful midfield, and will probably be relegated. Will Stewart back Hamshaw to recruit positively ? Very much doubt it if he is still in control.
