sinkov --you are a gambler and yet you say that you will not gamble on this wonder cure --or whatever else it is. THat being the case, just think what a job they are going to have with a non-gambler who is watching the developments with ever-increasing cynicism!
That same survey said exactly what I had said ---some would consider the vaccine if Boris et al took it first!

As Derek Dunlop said in the 60s show me a drug with no side effects and I’ll show you a useless one.
There’s lots we don’t know about the vaccine because it’s being fast tracked. I believe the 90% response figure came from only 90 patients. It’s now been given to 45000 so there’s more chance of getting most side effects identified and better estimates of effectiveness and they will be similar to other similar vaccines. The 15 mins is to allow for anyone who may be allergic to one of the components to show symptoms as they can be life threatening, but easily treated. That’s probably more likely if the virus is grown in a foreign protein eg egg, which this is probably not, so it’s not expected but is a sensible precaution. A needle can also make some people woozy or feel feint.
This is a new vaccine made of some part of the RNA not the virus so you won’t catch COVID

In a former life I was once in charge of giving 120000 children MMR vaccine catch up. 6 of them had moderate side effects, no one died.
If the 45000 have been ok I’d be happy to have it as the risk of the disease at my age is far riskier.

I'm just going to wait and see OC, there is far too much not known about this vaccine for me to want to risk it. For the moment I'll take my chances with Covid, that's completely under my control, I know what I must do to avoid catching it, I know the chances of it killing me if I do catch it are low, even at my age, so, on the basis of better the devil you know, I'll give the vaccine a miss until I know a bit more about this particular devil..

Untried. Untested. Unknown side effects.

Back to the Bollox! 45000 is hardly untried or untested and gives a good side effect profile too. Just don’t have a side effect that 1in 100000 get. As it’s Pfizer maybe some Viagra may have slipped in it. How would you cope with that lol

45,000 ? 43,500 according to the BBC but I'll not split hairs. >;)

90% success rate on 43,500 volunteers, good eh ? Er no, the 90% success rate is based on the results from just 94 volunteers. I can wait. O:)
