The situation won’t have to get much worse before something will have to be done.
eg
Scrapping the playoffs all together.
All matches behind closed doors.
Possibly just the finals at Wembley with fans where security is better with regard to pitch invasions.
The rule of an automatic yellow card for removing your shirt when celebrating scoring a goal is one of the stupidest, most pointless rules in football.
To date I've never heard any valid reason for this rule/punishment.
What's even more stupid is a player doing it in the full knowledge he will get a yellow card.Quote:

Someone suggested on the news this morning that the first couple of rows around the ground could be covered over thus making it difficult for fans to climb over.
I don't know the official reason(s), I'd guess one could be that it wastes time if they've thrown it into the crowd or they've run half a pitch away after dropping it and everybody then has to wait until they have gone to fetch it and put it back on again.Quote:

Inciting the crowd? Which wouldn't make much sense but not all rules have to make a great deal of sense if the real reason is just that a few people running the game have decided it's not very British or we need to protect pubescent girls who might be tempted to do the same thing on the playground or some other silly reason.

This is no chicken and egg situation, scrap one of the most needless rules and punishment in football and problem solved. This isn't jumping into the crowd whilst celebrating its removing an item of clothing.
I had been told it was because the shirt sponsors wanted to ensure that their logo is visible when the goal scorer is celebrating on televised games. No idea if it is true but money is king nowadays.

Rules can be bad and can and should be changed.
I enjoy the proper goal celebrations of today, rather than a single leap into the air before a swift walk back to the centre circle to restart the game, politely shaking a few team mates hands along the way. Very British.
