It's like some fans actively want him to leave just so they can say "ah but you made him captain so you were lying to sell more season tickets" etc.

It’s disgusting if they are doing it to keep engagement up and sell more STs, what sort of club are we trying to get more money in and more bums on seats?
I agree, they then had the audacity to continue it into the first half of last season. Sitting at the top of league two, just to get more fans in.
They soon showed their true colours though!
My mate was also telling me that if you want the new kit, you’ll have to pay the club some money. It’s just a disgusting ploy to make revenue if you ask me!
I simply don't think the club has been fair to Macca or KC in the timing of the announcement. Just need to read X to see many fans taking this as Macca's commitment when it's not. And it's all to push ticket sales.
I've no doubt that Macca feels proud and privileged with the undoubted honour, but it's not going to change what might happen in the transfer market. And l'm sure he doesn't want to send a signal to the fans and then let them down in the coming weeks by leaving.
Do you know anyone who wasn't going to buy a season ticket but now will because Macca has been named captain? I would be astonished if the news was the driving factor behind anyone deciding to buy a ticket. I just don't think that's how football fans think.
Macca is the most deserving player of the captain's armband. It's that simple. It was widely discussed last season that KC wasn't the ideal candidate and that a change would be good. When positive change comes, some people still look for a reason to make it negative. Unbelievable.
