Takeover and announcement of new manager.....

The takeover isn't, per se, the immediate concern! Our poor results and league position are. Even if the takeover happened tomorrow it won't help results in the short term which need to improve asap. The Jan window is still some games away and there is no guarantee that, even if there is money available, we can get hold of the quality needed to turn this 'Titanic' around before that gaping hole sends us down to join those other wrecks like Sunderland and Bolton!
Mind you, we might score the odd goal down there!

Apart from the longer the takeover takes the longer we don't have a manager

Thats why I said average! I sold my house 2 years ago it took 18 weeks, and I had everything in place from the start was a cash buyer and the house was empty! So it took you 2 months for a simple transaction, the acquisition of a football club or other company/group of companies is more complicated by at least a factor of 100.

Has it been 8 months? What information are you basing that on? There was talk of new investment in May and June, but that was merely talk in the press. My understanding is that the deal was agreed in principle around late August, so in reality the process has been going on for 3 months at most.

But even if the talks did begin in May, that would have been discussions about price etc. Then Mel would need to have further information on the proposed buyer, these enquiries, especially international enquiries can take weeks. Then there is the submission to the EFl for approval of the takeover, no doubt that takes a couple of months to prepare for and for the EFL to make a decision.

There are a number of companies involved, its not just a takeover of the football club, but the associated group of companies that own various parts, including the company that owns the ground. There are then any outstanding loans and other liabilities to consider, transfer of staff, the catering concession etc etc. All these details have to be signed off to each parties satisfaction.

Its a very complex process, where other takeovers have occurred in a shorter timescale, it is very likely that they had been going on long before they became public knowledge.

Again I would take little notice about what the DET publishes, most of it is speculation.

It's all worrying, and a farce that Rooney, of all the people within the club, is being given responsibility. I can't see the confidence rising without some external factor, we're just pouring fuel on the fire at the moment.

Whatever funds are available we must still be close to the wire on FFP?

Got to agree with Swale here, having done dozens of commercial transactions involving change of ownership, with and without property involved, Never mind some tin pot local rag having to guess at progress, from my experience usually the main players on either side would struggle to know the whole picture. For a current example of how **** happens, just look at JD Sport / Debemnhams

But isn’t that exactly what folk are saying Andy? The JD Sport takeover of Debenhams didn’t happen because of the impact on Debenhams of the collapse of Arcadia. Might the same not be true of DCFC as we look less and less like a ‘sleeping giant’ of the Championship and more and more like just another League 1 club with a nice stadium?

It might be, and covid may mutate into something worse and Putin may launch a strike on western Europe, but there's nowt we can do about it....

I think they would be buying potential. Wads of cash, a bit of luck and two seasons and we could be juking it out with the big boys, and in a 44,000 stadium with excellent transport links. Never gonna happen with (sorry Acido) Barnsley or Preston

Debenhams has been an accident waiting for happen for a decade, the business model is so out of touch with today's buyers and the cost of the store sites crippling.

DCFC have a decent business model but cannot execute it - investment in academy, comparatively new, expandable premises at a cheap (for now) rent. Just needs to make the step that they haven't managed under Mel
