Once we'd seen off the "10-minute Alamo" after we'd scored in the 3rd minute, I loved how we got men forward when we had the ball. Burnley weren't expecting that, and it knocked them out of their stride. Similarly, we had a lot of possession... much more than "most teams at Turf Moor" according to their commentary. By no means an easy feat.
Not a bad performance in any department, they were all on the ball from the off.
Ben Wiles...boots on the correct feet! A joy to see him coming back to form.
Washington... ran his socks off and was a constant thorn. One of his best games and so unlucky not to score a screamer.
Bramall... just keeps on getting better. I don't mid the "over-eagerness", it's what makes him what he is.
Jamie Lindsay... fluffed his big chance (2 chances?) to raise his profile. Imagine if that one had gone in right at the death!
Matt Taylor... got this one bang on with the way he set us up in what was supposedly a hiding to nothing. Very promising signs last night.
It's a shame that we came away with nothing. A lot of effort went into that game and I'm worried we'll see a more deflated side on Saturday.
Keep the faith. It's still looking good overall.
I'm not buying this "unnecessary challenge by Bramall" stuff.
He was pressing high up the pitch and tried to nick the ball off their defender which is what you're supposed to do.
The real insult is that he didn't commit a foul and was wrongly sent off so we'll be without him on Saturday as well because you can't appeal two yellow cards.
You just don’t give ref an easy decision when you’re already on a yellow against a team that he was all for, you know for a fact what’s going to happen.
Instead of constantly fining players and management maybe EFL need to sort the officials out because we all know they can’t do the job without being bias.
Watching on the tv mellow I straight away thought ,that's a yellow card, and unfortunately players cheat and will always try to make things look far worse than they are, and Bramall being on a booking, and us being in front needs to learn when to commit to a challenge like that.
Having watched it back he was never going to get the ball and although he stopped, the rolling around made the ref's mind up. UTM
I've watched the ITV highlights and that 2nd yellow was a awful decision by the ref,i don't even think the first yellow was a booking either. To top it off when Burnley scored the winner that throw in should have been the Millers because the ball came off the Burnley lad last according to the Millers boss.UTB
The Burnley fans can say what they want about 'time wasting' but the phrase is an incorrect one anyway. The tactics (or gamesmanship) of stopping the game is NOT to waste time. All teams know full well that the ref will add it on at the end. The aim is to slow the game down and nullify the momentum that the stronger team have.It breaks up play into manageable chunks and allows the weaker team to regain shape, composure and makes time to discuss a tactical reset. In effect they are unofficial 'time outs' that you would see in American Footy. I have never understood why it is called 'time wasting' because that is simply NOT the aim.
