It suits your agenda to portray all those who are not as callous as yourself as supporting such a stance but, as with so much of what you suggest, it isn’t true. It has no basis in fact...and simply being willing to show compassion towards those who are so desperate to escape to the comparative safety of the U.K. is a very different thing.

Now...if you’re going to respond please respond rationally. I don’t know about being a ‘clever bloke’...no more or less than most on here I’d suggest...but I am bright enough to know that you don’t win debates by making nonsensical statements and deliberately misinterpreting others.

OK i will rspond simply. I am not interested in anything clowns like Welby has to say. One of the biggest hypocrites on the planet.
So all I will say is, you have given many side track scorn of border control attempts, with comparisons to Dictorial regimes.

Just give me "your" version of what we should be doing then, seeing as you keep saying no open borders. Just this, the only thing, the list

I've got another two questions now. Second one should be a good one for Tricky to research.

1. Given what we've all said, (ie that we shouldn't have open borders), who do you support, when push comes to shove? Those who can find an excuse for allcomers to be welcome, or those who want to close the borders? and

2. If Australia can make what appears to be 100% success of a strategy to stop their boats, why can't we?

Right...so your response to five paragraphs of patiently explaining where I think you’re wrong is to pour scorn on the Archbishop of Canterbury who warranted half a sentence of my reply.
Says it all really doesn’t it?

As for my ‘version’. We’ve done this days ago when AF asked questions. It is a hugely complex issue to which I don’t have the answers but I’m not just going to resort to callous bigotry like you and those you follow.

Depends upon what you call a success I guess, but the short answer is we are in completely different geographic location, we have a reputation as a country which upholds human rights, deals with people fairly and though many seem to disagree, the vast majority of those who seek asylum get their applications granted.

I've already pointed out how the boats can be stopped and the government knows this as well, hence Sunak cultivating the French and offering money for processing over there. He knows this legislation won't work and whatever it says, cannot and will not be implemented, he is hoping that if he can secure arrangements with the French, then the boats will stop and they can claim it was their "tough" action that did it.

The smuggling by boat only became significant post 2016 and became a real issue post Brexit, it was pointed out at the time that Brexit would move the border from Calais to Dover, but the shysters in charge ignored that, failed to make any alternative arrangements for processing claims and on returning people that were in place before Brexit. That plus the failure to process applications in a timely fashion has led to where we are today.

In short the current situation is mostly the result of the piss poor management by this government, who it seems prefer to govern by rhetoric, rather than action.

One final word - we are talking 45 - 50,000 a year, other EU countries take in many more. Hardly an influx and one that if managed properly could address security/safety concerns and get those approved integrated into society avoiding most of the issues, that are currently being expereinced.

So, have we now reached a final solution?

I'm pretty sure I put forward the suggestion that the UK should reopen the "application offices" abroad. Take on more staff in the UK to get rid of the backlog and reduce the time to process an application to a max of 4 weeks....

Of course, that suggestion doesn't fit your narrative, now, does it? No shock that you choose to forget it.

I said the same thing. Yet I asked for a list.
Not what needs to be done. A time line list of/in do able order.

Bearing in mind, that spring is upon us, we are already double the intake of this time last year.
We can't cope now.
So what needs to be done MA. Don't just toss a couple things in there, that do not solve the problem. I said both of those.

You haven't, just saying its not easy is it? Just smacks of the fence sitting Starmer is famous for.

The problem is here, it isn't going away, until we do something.
This year is a projected 80 000 + influx.
So the same request falls to you.
List me, in order of priority what we need to do. Clock is ticking as we can't cope now, never mind when summer is here.

Try to put the humane crying to one side, think logically and what we can/ can't do. You said no open borders, at the minute, that is exactly what we have, so change it.
