Very interesting that the Independent newspaper printed the obituaries of Jim Patterson and Bobby Black as tbh they would not have been too well known to the majority of their readers so well done to journalist Ivor Ponting.

    Thanks for posting that, JRSLP.

I didn't know that Bobby Black had been in that amazing East Fife post-war team.

When we were in the 2008 cup final, I was hoping that Queens would be the first lower league side to win it since East Fife.
Of course, Hibs managed it last season. Sigh!

The next seasons photos I am doing is 1970-71. The home programme of then mentions Bobby Black's son signing for Queens . Does anyone remember how good or maybe not so good he was ?

I updated Black's Wikipedia page with details of his two sons' playing career and also information on his grandson and great grandson.

    Bobby Jr 1971-73
    35 appearances
    4 goals

I played with Bobby Black junior before he turned professional as we both worked in the printing trade and had a Printers team that played the likes of Robison and Davidson, Uniroyal etc in summer friendly matches - he was a very skilful player and also played in the
South League with the likes of St. Cuthberts.
