Meanwhile in an alternate universe . . .

. . . it's June 26th 2019, the sun is shining, England have secured their place in the Cricket world cup semi finals after thrashing the Aussies at Lords, the economy is booming as an co-party BREXIT deal agreement proves beneficial to everyone and Notts County fans are for once enjoying a stress free closed season.

Despite the club being ceremoniously dumped from the football league in May, everyone associated with Notts County have much to look forward to.

Almost immediately after relegation was confirmed former chairman Alan 'floppy' Hardy was true to his word and proved his worth as the 'busiest man on earth' by securing a deal to sell the club to a wealthy foreign consortium who's only interests lie in the long term future of the club and boasting a bank balance of £900m.

As expected the deal was concluded in just under 10 days.

Optimism is growing amongst the fan base with season ticket sales in excess of 5000. The club's debts are paid, and exciting new players are signed.

The new owners (who don't have a social media presence) decide to sever the kit contract with PUMA (because basically their kits are sh1te) and sign a new 10 year deal with Adidas who confirm that the home kit will always only be black and white stripes, with black shorts and white socks.

It is agreed the club badge will be one iconic solitary flying magpie.

Additionally a new multi million pound 5 year shirt sponsorship deal is agreed with Nando's who also replace 'Big Als' food outlets in the ground and a new state of the art scoreboard is installed.

. . . meanwhile in the real world!

I still wonder what would have happened if we'd had VAR in the play-offs against Coventry, we would have beat them for a start and personally I think we would have gone on to win at Wembley like Coventry did, Hardy would have still ran out of money/decent ideas I'd imagine but at least we'd be falling from League 1 and not League 2

In this universe can Gazza have been sent off for elbowing Harding in the quarter final in 91, we then got past Arsenal in the semis and beat Forest 5-0 in the final? Ta.

In that universe we also went on to win the UEFA Cup the following season, the inaugural PL title the season after and now have a sold out 50,000 stadium for every game?

Yes but it’s more like a pleasure ride. It takes you from Meadow Lane, over the Trent and then dips into a derelict City Ground where the once famous but no longer with us all conquering Rushcliffe Rovers you to play. Now they play at our 6000 seater training facility in Colwick and are essentially our feeder club.

Blimey, we had to sell Johnson and Short to get the stadium we have, god knows what we would have to have sold for a 50,000 stadium.
