    Players regrets

Myself, just like maybe 99% of supporters have listened to our managers post match interviews week on week, year on year and no two are the same, each time the analysis that he gives is pin point accurate, he sees the game just played in a honest way that is imaginable, full of respect and kindness for both the opposition whom we have just beaten hands down and the officials that maybe have just had a nightmare, he is just incredibly humble.
It must be known in the footballing world that Luke Williams and his back-room staff are the people to take a football club to where they would like to be, as time goes on, he will get offers as a matter of course on a regular basis.

Brings me to whoever the players are, over the past couple of years or so, that have been touted to sign for or considered playing for NCFC, the regrets they must now have for not taking the chance and missed out on being trained by Luke and his staff, a lot of regrets out there I would imagine, as it is surely recognised that he brings out the best of your ability.

We have a tremendous, once in a decade, manager and backroom staff there is at Meadow Lane.

Good post. I totally agree, I could listen to LW all day. Such an honest and perceptive guy….I always think back to his post match interview against Chesterfield at home last season. We hadn't started the season great and were two down at half time and the players got booed off. When pressed on the booing at the end of the game he gave such a great and honest answer I felt then it could be a turning point…and so it proved to be, and we went on that record breaking unbeaten run.

That being said, the owners have to take slightly more credit I think. LW has worked wonders, but only under the conditions and environment that the owners have created….it starts from the top and then goes down I think LW would be the first to admit that.

The thought of losing this manager fills me with a sporting dread. There will surely be clubs as high as the championship eyeing him up now. My biggest fear would be Forest being relegated, Cooper being sacked and Luke jumping ship to them 🥹

So lucky to have the steady calm Danes in charge, I can't see cool hand Luke leaving this season and who knows promotion and the temptation to stay and see how far he could take us maybe irresistible

Without sounding like I’m doing LW a disservice, I think the main admiration has to be with the owners.
They have built the foundations and set a blue print of how the club is to operate. This has given LW the chance to flourish.
Whatever your opinion of the last two managers, they played a style of football that the owners insist upon. LW has then taken that style and built on it (tremendously well).
If LW had come to our club at any other point in the last 20 years, I doubt he would have lasted 6 months.
He wouldn’t have had the right players, a patient owner, or fans that would back a complete unknown.
And when you consider how many clubs continue to run in that way, managers don’t really stand a chance.
So far, every piece of recruitment the club makes, is an upgrade on the predecessor. That’s pretty incredible really!
I would be absolutely gutted if LW was to leave, but I trust our owners to mean it would have limited negative impact.

It would have to be a mega offer from a leading team (Championship?) for him to go (IMO) He is building something special here and I am sure he will want to see where he can take us.

Great post, LW had the opposite at Swindon, in his only full season at Swindon he saw them relegated and was sacked 1 year into a 5 year contract. What the stats don’t show was the calamity of when they brought Tim Sherwood in. I’m pretty sure at one point it was actually Sherwoods role to select the team and LW to just be on the touch line until one game Sherwood actually came down at half time when they were losing to a non league side, so all in all a bit of a sh1tshow there.

So on that he knows exactly what he has now and seems and says he’s extremely grateful and why wouldn’t he be? Our owners have a proper strategy, ambition and most importantly give support.

Of course it's our owners that are the pinnacle of what we are appreciating, that is without any shadow of doubt.
We as a club, in this moment in time, are in the best place that is possible in the football world, I don't want the Premiership greed & chaos, I'm going to enjoy the ride we are on for, at least, the next few years, we are in the best hands since Pavis.

Players are more interested in how much money they can get, and not just because the coach is good...

It's hard to imagine better owners and, likewise, to imagine a better coach right now. I'm with those who trust that the intelligence and humility of LW will keep him here for a good while. Yes, he's bound to be tempted if someone offers him a lucrative jump into the Championship, but he'll be realistic and wise enough to know that it would most likely end quite quickly and badly.

In any case, although I'm willing to be proved wrong, I think it's rare to be offered such a jump no matter how well you're doing. I remember Eddie Howe when he was the youngest manager in the EFL. He saved Bournemouth from relegation to the National League, and then got them promoted to League 1. That was when Burnley tempted him away to the Championship, but he was soon back at Bournemouth. He took them to the Premiership, and only then did the offers from the likes of Celtic and Newcastle come rolling in. I'm pretty relaxed because I expect LW to take us a lot further, all other things being equal.

Bumped into a mate at Salford last night who I haven't seen for ten years or so (Preston away) we both said, in more or less the same breath, "Notts are in the best place for bloody Donkeys", and we are! We are playing clever, competent football and look at least a match for anyone in this division (so far). Of course we will lose games but any loss will probably be to better opposition or a bad rub of the green, gone are the days when we lose through sheer inability. My initial thought pre-season was we would have our hands full just to compete and a mid-table finish would be a good result, I now have thoughts of play-offs at least (with automatic a distinct possibility).
