    Banter and Banning Posters

This is a post I put on the Dundee side of Mad and I have posted the same, as per below, to see what your posters think, in particular about banning issues.

"I've been reading the stuff about crowd figures on another thread and the issue of banning has come up again. I see the 2 Dodes (Dod & Dode) got a ban over on United Mad for one post that appears to have upset someone over there but Roma can post on here with impunity. Some time back I also posted over on United Mad and was immediately banned too. Funnily enough my ban was also about questioning crowd figures. The circumstances actually arose from a United poster posting multiple times on Dundee Mad and a 'conversation' or banter, if you like, took place on the Dundee side of the forum. The United contributor then retreated to the United side of Mad and imo did not represent the exchange correctly. I posted on his thread over on United Mad and as I said was immediately banned.

Who decides who should be banned and why and should the rules not be the same for both sides of the fence? What constitutes 'banter'? I would have thought that unless a post is grossly offensive, racist etc. then that is the nature of such forums a bit of 'come and go' & 'give and take' i.e. banter from both sides. Crowd figures seems to be the catalyst for these disagreements and one sided bans. Being honest I too think United inflate their crowds as all teams do as in adding on non attending Season Ticket holders but again imo they go over the score. This is my opinion but is it enough to warrant a ban? I see that a fair few on United Mad accuse us of being obsessed about this matter but the same sort of posts are common on United Mad and Shedka for one has been banging on about it for years starting threads and bringing crowd figure debates into other threads at times patently annoying a few on his own side of Mad. As one of the 'Dodes' pointed out it was Roma who actually started a new thread on Dundee Mad to 'stir things up' and indulge in banter on our side.

I actually don't mind United posters on Dundee Mad so long as it is a level playing field. My experience getting banned stopped me posting on the Dundee side of Mad for the duration of the ban and I fell out of the habit of posting on here and more or less haven't posted since. I have been posting on The Dark Blues site instead. I would rather have fans posting openly on each others sites as opposed to what has been happening at times on TDB site where there are United fans undercover so to speak purporting to be Dundee fans and that is not banter in my mind."

While i will never set foot in Dens again, my father came from an era where they attended both grounds on matchday and headed through to Raith if both teams had a free weekend.

Not been on here that long, but historically believe that posters who stuck their head above the Dundee Mad parapet were instantly banned, which is why i never post there myself.

Its funny though how you mention crowd debates. I really dont give a flying one about crowd numbers as i think its something that will heal itself if both teams can remain in the top flight. It has to be noted that there are some who still attend both grounds to support both teams.

I think there should be a tolerance towards visiting each others Mad place without being banned, but as i believe a ban can be Global across Mad, there has to be tolerance level to the banter with a friendly GTF if someone steps over a certain line, and for whoever to accept that GTF message for a while.

At the end of the day, us Supporters can walk the streets together, work together and live together so why cant we be allowed to be Mad together now and again?

I'm not asking for you to be banned on Dundee Mad. Discussion and banter is ok, fine by me. I could argue that there were no lies in my post or the other two from Dundee Mad that got banned. Not lies just opinions but bans from United Mad, that stopped us even posting on our forum, was the outcome. So, no, I'm not wanting you banned from Dundee Mad I'm just wanting a little more tolerance and a refrain from banning of us from your side. Barring anything that goes wildly over the score that is.

I prefer a forum where rival fans can interact with each other e.g. Pie & Bovril.

I can't understand why the bans on Footymad are global - very unfair.

I like it when opposing fans post and engage in good discussions with us Arabs. I used to post a lot on FunMad (think I was one of the top 10 posters when they had these lists) back in the day but don't any longer. I always liked it and, for the most part, the was a good bunch of folk.

As one of the moderators here I can only talk for myself but what will get a rival fan a ban is coming on here and trolling about a load of ****e. Discussions like yours here are fine (IMHO).

On this subject of crowds (I rarely get involved as it's a load of p!sh) the one question I'd ask anyone who suspects United inflate their numbers is this: what evidence have you that this happens?

In the aulden days, deflation was the thing. Less tax seemingly, turnstiles all paid in cash etc. I've been at a few matches where the crowd (looked like) it was more than double the numbers printed in the Sporting Post.

Now we can't get a peh and Bovril without a card. Whatever happened to "cash is king?"

No idea why anyone would even bother trying to confirm attendances (who gives a fcuk?)

In saying that .... I have been at Dens, when the crowd numbers were massively understated. Testimonial obviously...

Fan engagement is a measure of how well a club is doing so it's always something I'll look at and comment on. No guilt in that whatsoever.

Haven't looked at DeeMad in many years, I thought it was a right wing conspiracy theory echo chamber.

There's some folk who know their football on t he d ark b lues f orum but they're usually drowned out by the Dee luded who just make United stats up and point blank refuse to accept reality.

Personally I think anyone falling out with strangers on the Internet about how many people watched a football game should be banned from the Internet altogether. Grow up ffs! 🤣
