FAO The Data Analysts of the board

Having read the thread RE Will Jarvis signings and having my own interest in our wing backs, I was wondering if there is anywhere I could access heat maps/average positioning/starting position data for Notts.

I am hypothesising that we do not actually play with wing backs but want to try and look at it in depth.

Just posted about that and agree with you. It's just a very fluid positional place on the team sheet.

The whole wing back thing has piqued my interest for a while now.

We tend to play wing backs under Maynard. With Williams we played wingers who'd track back, subtle difference really

Interesting read - 27% of our goals conceded have come within the first 15 minutes of the match.

Next closest is 19% in 45-60 & 60-75. So 46% of our goals conceded have come at the start of each half. Which leaves 54% for the other 60 minutes.

Meanwhile our scoring in each 15 minute period is almost equal across the board.

Concentration issue? Or struggling to cope until we've made adjustments?

as other posters have mentioned, SM's set up is extremely fluid. Ian Holloway seemed highly impressed with how we rotated mid game too. Needs a lot of skill to do that, and some intense coaching.

I posted it on the oooold Walsall thread so may have slipped under the radar pun intended, but Tom William's take on things tactical is an interesting watch:

I'm not sure I understand this subtle difference. Is a wingback, a defender who tracks forward like a winger.
But a winger, is an attacker who tracks back like a defender?
