What do they train all week?

With Williams it was evident the patterns of play they'd worked on to break teams down. We moved the ball from side to side quickly tried to play the ball inside the full back for nemane, create space for jones.

With Maynard they look like they've been sent out and told good luck. Hopefully someone will do something individually and win us the game.

It's becoming more and more evident that the assistant coach who left was the brains behind the Maynard management team.

I always want notts to win, but everyone can see this seasons l2 is the weakest in years and to not go up and potentially (I'd argue likely) miss out on the playoffs altogether isn't good enough.

If he remains for next season i would be very worried us having a bad season, and a return to the NL..

Williams and Maynard both advocate a possession game, but Williams had his teams playing at a higher tempo, at least when we were attacking, and playing far more forward passes with attacking players given more individual freedom. Everything was quicker, more dynamic and immensely more entertaining to watch.

If you were to summarise the difference in a sentence, I think Williams was basically just a better and more demanding coach than Maynard is.
We saw the step up from Ardleyball when Williams arrived, and there's been a step back since Maynard arrived.

The biggest problem Williams faced just before he left was that he didn't have strong enough defensive personnel to cope with the upgrade to League Two and the heavy workload such players have to handle in such an attacking system, but with the arrival of Platt and Bedeau in particular, Maynard has had more defensive quality to work with.

Looking at the bench last night and the back up staff he’s got I feel for Maynard as he appears to be the only one doing the coaching etc. He’s. clearly learned to be a bit more aggressive lately with his red card and 3 yellows but after watching the guy left with the touchline job last night he stood there with arms folded or in his pockets a majority of the time.

So you think our better defence this season is just down to personnel and nothing to do with a different style of play..? Ffs ..!

...Jackal... no he didn't...Williams had us passing teams to death so that the opposition had time to get back; then hit us on the break with us stranded up field. Ignoring our games v Salford, and a few others, SM introduced a more varied game as well as defending more effectively.

That game last night was a carbon copy of the stags game last season. They went man for man and we had no answer to it. William?s had no more answers in that game than Maynard did last night. Maynard did switch formation and personnel but we were out performed. Jatta?s job last night was so important as we tried to play through the press quickly, but he was second best on virtually every occasion whether it was in the air or at his feet. Their CB dealt with Jatta with ease.
Williams was all out attack and the stats were as negative as they were positive. Our back line this year play from the back but hit the channels if under pressure. Williams wouldn?t allow that and you?d see the same mistakes with our current defenders. Aden Baldwin was vilified by many, he?s been one of Bradfords best players this season.
I loved Williams time here but I think we?re rewriting history if we think he had the ability to change a game. He was far less flexible than Maynard.

Maynard was a step back from Williams and agree with the comments
that since those backroom staff left we're relying on the opposition being poor rather than us good.

We should have the best at this level at Notts and Maynard isn't it.

I can't see it being that bad but I can see a scenario where we just blob between 11th-17th all season which the fans won't tolerate.

Our playing budget is 12th, so why would we have the best manager?
