Bass 6 - kicking was poor but he kept the scoreline respectable at least.
Bedeau 5 - their forward had the beating of him time and time again.
Platt 4 - I don't know what's happened to platt but he's been the shadow of the player he was earlier in the season for a while now. Looks reluctant to put himself about and was embarrassing for their 2nd. Just head the ball ffs.
McDonald 5 - Should not be starting for a team with supposed promotion aspirations.
Palmer 5 - what does matty Palmer actually contribute to the team these days?
Abbott 7 - The only played worthy to wear the shirt, yet again.
Jones 5 - Similar to platt; looks nothing like the player he was earlier this season, and decided to do his best Kyle Cameron impression for their second.
Gordon 4 - His attitude stinks and his crossing his atrocious.
Grant 4 - Horrendous player, looked like he'd rather be anywhere but at ML today.
Whitaker 5 - At least tried to progress the ball but did nothing to actually influence the game.
Jatta 5 - I'd left before he scored but seeing him described as a dog chasing a balloon on a windy day summed his performance up for me. Looks unfit and lacking confidence.
Macari 5 - Nothing of note
Jarvis 5 - simular to whitaker, tried to get the ball forward but constantly gave it away
Edwards 5 - another one whose nowhere near the level required. His signing screams of another penny pinching exercise in hindsight.
Austin 6 - Did well to set up the goal and glad to see him back finally.
Hinchy - 5 Nothing of note.
If we want to be promoted then neither Grant or Whitaker should play no further part in this season.
I?d say palmer too but we have nobody better to replace him brings nothing to the team these days and can?t even get a corner further than the first man most of the time.
For me Palmer, Hinchy,Edwards , Whitaker and Grant need to be shipped out in the summer.
Another thing why every week is Slocombe giving players instructions and one to one coaching on the touchline? Is he the head coach or is the BT engineer?
I almost felt bad for Abbott today - he was so much better than everyone but there's only so much he could do alone.
To answer your question about Palmer flippantly, he chugs around, probably sideways, until he meets resistance then he plays whichever is the most ultra conservative pass available. Throw in a few crap set pieces as well. To be fair to him, chugging around and playing easy passes is probably his job description, but Jesus Christ it's no wonder we don't create anything.
Jodi did seem to bottle a tackle for their second but he's got plenty of credit in the bank and with his injury situation that's understandable. I hope he wouldn't do that in a playoff game.
Jatta scored but is a shadow of his former self. I was watching him warm up against Harrogate and he was missing the target and putting them straight at the keeper in the drills. Playing to his weaknesses every game can't help, but he is so far off his top form it's hard to believe it's the same player.
Defenders were uncharacteristically bad. Grant had a shocker. Jarvis couldn!t dribble. Bad day all round.
Good to see Austin back, can't think of any other positives apart from him and Abbott.
Only Abbott deserves a rating for me. What a gutless display that was. Laid down without a whimper and handed them the title.
Pretty much a standard Maynard performance when there's something to play for. That looked like a team who didn't want to push it and were content with the playoffs.
Bass - 6 - Kicking poor early on but a couple of smart saves.
McDonlad - 6 - Fine. Composed and used the ball well.
Platt - 5.5 - Struggled at times but dont think the line helped.
Bedeau - 5.5 - Not his best game. Allowed one bad one in 46.
Gordon - 5.5 - Offered a threat, too often his balls to chase were over hit. No surprises to see him subbed.
Palmer - 7 - Thought he played well. Complimented Abbott nicely. Better early in the second when we tried to up the tempo. Played forward much more today.
Abbott - 8 - MOTM - I thought he was superb. He has so much ability and played with a bit of arrogance today when he had the ball. ***** for the play offs.
Jones - 5 - Poor today. Need to be stronger in the tackle in the run up to the second. Looked livelier later on, but looked predictable.
Grant - 5 - Some decent flashes but not enough to impact the game.
Whitaker - 5 - Poor in the build up for their first and then should have got his header on target moments later. Similar to Grant.
Jatta - 6 - Zero service until 90+4. Worked hard. Pressed. Some decent build up. Needs McGoldrick with him.
Macari - 5 - Looked terrified of his own first touch but got forward well.
Jarvis - 5 - A bit Jarvis-pre-good-form. Came inside too much and passed to both MPs. Not enough variety.
Austin - Good movement, did well for the goal.
Edwards and Hinchy - Nothing much to do.
Time and again the ball through the middle on the ground was on today, not once was it even attempted. We need someone of Jim O?Briens bravery on the ball. Sideways, backwards, sideways, keeper, long ball, lose possession. Terrible. Absolutely terrible. I thought it was nearly full time when it was only on 70 minutes, I sighed and sat back down.
Bass..6... Kicking suspect but kept the scoreline respectable
Bedeau..6.. Not at the races today but at least kept going till the end
Platt..4...A shoe-in for player of the season 2 months ago but progressively getting worse week by week...something not right there
McDonald..5...Played by necessity...didn't look up to it at times, brought in as backup but plays every week now says a lot about recruitment
Palmer...5...Not even 1/10 of the player before Injury, not vocal at all for a captain... can't be dropped because we don't have anybody else
Abbott...7... Brilliant young lad, played his heart out...shame some of the older players couldn't match his work rate
Jones...5...Another who's a shadow of his former self... just taking a jersey the last few weeks but as stated nobody else available to take it
Gordon..3...Said it weeks back...this guy is simply not good enough to play even league 2 football, can't cross..can't defend and looks likely to have a bad attitude
Grant...4..Poo... hot smelly Poo
Whittaker... 5.5. Simply too lightweight for the toils of league 2. ...needs to put of a bit of muscle or at least burst into a few tackles..wasn't awful but not great either
Jatta... 5... Finishes the regular season 19 goals... you would think he was a letal finisher on those numbers but he's not...didn't do much of anything until his tap in
Macari... 4..Didn't much know he was on the field if I'm honest
Edwards... 4...Simple pass straight out of play pretty much summed it up for me...not good enough
Austin..6... A 6 just for the joy of seeing him back, tried hard as he always does
Hinchy...5..Tried in his brief time and had the ball a few times and tried to be positive
Jarvis...4...Gave the ball away numerous times...didn't do much of note
So to sum it up...we needed a performance in front of a large crowd to give ourselves any hope of automatic promotion.... we completely sh@t ourselves once again on the big occasion... Donny didn't have to get out of 2nd gear...they could and should of had 5...we were miles off it today...dreadful performance with no motivation...SM is on borrowed time... we have to be rank outsiders for the playoffs now?
What's with the Gordon attitude was at the game but didn't notice anything
