    Didzy Leaves Notts

David McGoldrick has rejected our offer of a new contract.

A statement from our board of directors reads: ?While we?re of course disappointed to be losing a player of David?s quality and character, he leaves having given us many fantastic memories over the last two years.

?Unfortunately we have been unable to reach an agreement on this occasion, but everyone at Meadow Lane thanks David wholeheartedly for his charismatic performances, wonderful goals, leadership and dedication.

?It was special to see him realise his dream of returning to Meadow Lane and we wish him all the best in the next chapter of his brilliant career.?

Looks like another circus show is underway down the Lane.
Danish Bacon should of done everything possible by Xmas to ensure they tied him down in some capacity for another year so he couldn?t start talking to other clubs come January when he was within the last 6 months of his contract.
We have problems now, no manager no creative or flair players apart from JJ this is a joke.
Cue the announcement from MK dons now to rub it in.

    Totally agree,
we look distinctly average at the moment with the staff we have, even a half fit McG can create something from nothing and we have nobody else who can bring that to the team. Let's hope for some inspired signings or I fear another year of mediocrity lies in wait.

A VERY BIG few weeks now for the owners that could make or break their relationship with some of the fanbase. Need to get both HC and player recruitment spot on now. They?ve got most things right during their tenure so I remain hopeful but I do also worry that there is an emotional discord developing between them and the fans.

If David McGoldrick doesn't want to stay, that's his decision. We would have offered him a contract for the amount and length we felt reasonable relative to his advancing years, and maybe he's got a better offer elsewhere. What it does mean of course is that a lot of unused resource has just appeared in the wage budget, so we could replace him with a younger striker of high calibre. In many ways, Didzy was an unusual signing compared with the usual profile of signing younger players to develop, but I think sentiment played a part and it worked for all parties at the time. It is what it is. We thank him and move on.

We could get 3 good players on Didzy's reported 6000 weekly wage

Totally agree. It has put to bed the talk that he was not willing to play under Maynard.

Possibly offered him a 1 year contract but someone else has offered him 2. Money will of course be a big factor and it would be taking a huge risk to offer him a substantial amount.

Disappointed but not at all worried.

Wouldn't it be better to stop the talk that the owners are becoming disconnected from the fans? Certainly not me!

If he was on that much then frankly that's too much money to continue investing in a single ageing player at this level. A great talent no doubt, but he won't be getting better at his age and the injury risk grows with each passing year. As you say, an opportunity to recruit more than one player either approaching or in the prime of their career.

Gutted. We have lost our two best players from last season, which leaves the recruitment team with some massive holes to fill. I hope they recruit better than they have done since January.

I see the predictable old ladies are wetting their knickers again. It's the circle of life. Our value for money criteria didn't meet his so we move on. We can expect to see some exciting new talent incoming now.
