Match thoughts - Wycombe V Barnsley

Difficult one this! We are bang out of any form and Wycombe are not the same team as last season after losing some key players.
I'm hoping that we can bounce back into the early season form we were showing and get back on track.
Wycombe have always been a physical side and we are currently being bullied by teams who appear to have worked out our style of play of getting Ogbeta and Vickers on the ball.
Let's hope Conor has worked out some system that will combat how they play and get that confidence boosting win we desperately need?
1 shot on target in 4 games doesn't fill me with much optimism though!

I agree with Perky that this match is a tough one to call, obviously with Wycombe having a strong ex Barnsley connection it adds extra spice to what appears on paper to be a very difficult fixture , I also think the weather may also may play a part and both teams are in the laps of God regarding freak weather maybe influencing the game . I do think though that on our day we have the players to come out of this sticky patch, confidence has been hit so I think the first goal will play a major part in how we play, if we take the lead it could bring confidence back to the team whilst if Wycombe score first the negativity around our play might cost us therefore I sincerely hope we notch first and go on to take the points , I do believe we will do it tomorrow , we will see !!!

    I'm livid with that tbh.....
2-0 up and played the whole game to 85 minutes professionally to that point!
Then we get a free kick around 86 minutes about 7 yards outside their box, DKD shoots straight into the keepers hands, who bowls it out to the right, passed to the winger who leaves Earl for dead crosses for them to score, why shoot? 2-0 up, hit it back to Cooper and waste valuable time!
Then after Conor had said the goal Blackpool scored was sloppy and the players need to do their jobs properly and we would learn from that, Wycombe score a carbon copy of the Blackpool goal to equalise deep into injury time again.
Both goals were poor to give away and they are clearly not learning from mistakes!
Players who think they are home and hosed and over confident has now cost us 3 points in 2 away games.
Conor clearly feels he needs to give Farugia and Russell game time, but each time he brings them on we lose our shape and way of playing!
    So disappointed tonight.

Hourihane has to take his share of the blame for throwing away 2 points in that manner although ultimately the defending for the first Wycombe goal was horrific and Cooper really should be saving those for their equaliser.

Hourihane is what he is , a rookie HC learning on the job , the sickening thing is that the league is wide open with nobody really standing out this season .

Agree our capitulation was annoying, the three points were in the bag.

However on closer scrutiny, I though that Earl was blowing out of his backside the moment their player out ran him and the went past him a second time.

On close inspection in the last month we have conceded goals in minutes 88, 90+3,89,89,87,89 and 90+8

Conclusion, were not fit enough, become leggy and consequently lose concentration. Thats down to the off field personnel, get em up and down Arnd Hill as one of our former posters would say.

    Thoughts anyone?

That's my issue Animal, he isn't learning! And neither are the players!
It's the same mistakes by Conor with the subs and the same mistakes the players are making, especially late in games!
Farugia gets the ball and has no other way of playing than to run at the defence, the trouble is he leaves massive gaps when he can't or doesn't want to get back.
Russell CANNOT play in this system, so why does he insist on bringing him on? He looks like the player we first had, can't tackle, can't run, can't pass!

Why he didn't put McGoldrick on is baffling when the changes had to be made .

That's why McGoldrick is here surely to come on and use his experience to help us see games out .

Farrugia before McGoldrick is either naive or Hourihane is as thick as mince .

Hard to defend thi Connor lad today , brain dead.

According to Doug O?Kane, McGoldrick had a slight groin injury. Not sure he should have been on the bench at all if that is the case.

We were half decent for 80 minutes. Not amazing but doing a good enough job to deserve 3 points.

That ending was a travesty though. 2 very poor goals to give away.

I am not sure if these late goals we?ve given away are down to a lack of fitness or lapses in concentration. I think I am maybe edging towards the latter right now. Either way, we need to find a solution.

3 Yorkshire derbies upcoming now. Time to get our season back on track.

It is Sunday morning as I reflect and I am still as sick as a parrot, like everyone else I believe the substitutions have cost us the points but whilst Russel and Ferrugia weaken the side in my opinion it was down to who we took off with Bland being the key to my point , in my opinion he was the last player that should have been removed, he was having a very good game and him and Connel are a double act, they were mopping up in front of the defence all afternoon but as soon as he went off we became vulnerable , I know there is a chain of thought that with ten minutes to go and a comfortable lead it is time to give one or two a breather but crikey we do not have a match for two weeks giving the players ample recovery time , Conor scored a massive own goal yesterday so lets hope it is down to a learning curve and we move on.
