    Grant

I hope KN is looking for a replacement for January.A ***** cog in the works, I fear we are going to lose due to his form.Either Florest will want him back,or other clubs will have been watching him & offer a transfer fee that we simply won't be able to match.
Maybe AH agreed a fee for Grant to sign in Jan,when he signed on loan.Lets hope so.

    And so the panic begins.
2 points I would like to make. Firstly, despite his goals, his form is not as good as as it was during his first spell. It is my opinion that he has been fairly quiet in recent games, and I would happily let that continue if he carries on scoring.
Secondly, Forests problems seem to be in defending, not attacking. They are creating chances but gifting goals.
What will be, will be come January. If Grant does go back to Forest, it is because WE have developed him in to a Championship standard player... Personally, i don't think he is at that level. Yet.

    Good post notts78
    Have to agree .
His scoring record and some of his play is outstanding.
His allround game has much work to be done.
Having said that I think he is carrying an injury and is hampering his previous form.
But With that ability to be in the right place at the right time we are super glad to have him and very hard to find...
Very much like a Kevin Nolan of the past eh✊

According to the Post back in the summer he signed on a season long loan so surely if that's the case he will only go if they have recall on him or choose to sell?

"The Nottingham Forest playmaker has joined the Magpies on a season-long loan as is expected to play some part in the club’s friendly against Wigan on Saturday"

This is my understanding as well a season long loan with Forest having the option to recall him in Jan.

If we lost him in Jan then it would be a nightmare but I would be more afraid of Yates getting called back, the guy is utter class, but hey Grant said he loves it at Notts so fingers crossed

Can't agree with that. Take away his goals and where would we be? Equal 2nd on 20 points.

Obviously I'd much sooner he was with us for the rest of the season but if he was recalled in January, who's to say AH & KN wouldn't find a replacement?

I remember all the panic about being able to keep Callum McGregor for the second half of the season when he was here till January, we finally got the deal done and extended it to the end of the season and he was barely involved in the second half... Derry was the manager though so he probably thought he had too much ability and wasn't enough of a clogger to get in his side.

In terms of Grant though I'm a bit more relaxed about it as I don't think Forest will think he can improve them as much as the Forest fans who see that he's scoring but aren't actually watching his performances and they presume he's carrying the team.

Very well put Freeman. Even though I really like Grant, I think that overall he played better last season than he has this one so far, but his goals have been grabbing the headlines. I think the contribution of Yates has been just as influential, but in a less spectacular way. He does the sort of underrated but ***** job Neal Bishop did so well in stopping the opposition playing. That role seems more the one Forest need now, but I doubt either of them are ready for the Championship just yet.
