    10 Years From Today...

Looking back 10 years it's hard to take where Notts are now but where do we all think we'll be 10 years ahead?

No idea where Notts will be but you'll be a Tory Councillor.

    It’s all about managing expectations.

No more bloody 5 year plans to the championship, no more promises of promotion pushes.

The reason fans expectations get out of hand is because owners have set them too high.

If you went 11 years back when we were languishing near the bottom of league 2, you probably wouldn’t be all that surprised where we are now.
With stability and sensible investment, I’d love to think we could be back in the championship.

Me too. It may be a dream too far with the state of football finance but who knows?

Championship would be wonderful but I'd settle for being back in League One, which I regard as being the natural division for a club of our size. Jimmy Sirrel and Neil Warnock performed miracles to give us a taste of top flight football, and even a place in the Championship would be a level above what might normally be expected of a club that only occasionally breaks five figure gates even in it more successful times, but it's fair to say we're competing well below our natural level at present.

That said, we are where we are and the greatest danger is that we arrogantly believe we have a right to be restored to higher leagues. Any return to relative success will have to be achieved through hard work and respecting the league we're in at any given time. Steve Cotterill preached humility and respect for 'smaller' opponents even during the Munto season, and the outcomes suggest his attitude was the right one.

Optimistically if we are an established top 10 L1 team that would be seen as real progress. Realistically, if we are playing league football then happy days.

That’s my fear though. It won’t.
Many fans were anything but happy when we were in league one. Even when we only missed out on the playoffs by goal difference.
