    Kept us in the Championship.

Charlton were on the beach and Andy Hunt did his best to miss any chances that came his way.

    Didn’t Sneekes score?

Lovely weather as well like today.

Cause he did and Taylor. Only surprise was the one he missed. Relegated were Swindon, Port Vale and Walsall. Grimsby finished above us.

    Good view of The Woodman.

    I remember it well.
I took my son and daughter, 7 and 9 respectively at the time.
    Sat in the Rainbow stand.
Charlton fans beforehand were full of it (knowing they were champions)
Early in the game a rumour went around that Walsall had scored (which was untrue).
I dedicated Richard's goal to my son and bob's to my daughter.
My son has never been back in the ground since, he just doesn't like football.
    Loved that day.

I always cite this as the most important Albion game I've ever been to. There have been games which brought us more glory and money but this is the one where we were truly staring into the abyss. Portsmouth away was close by comparison, but this was further down the line with the threat of top flight money being ever further away. Horrible to say a game was important because of money but it's true, especially given our finances at the time. Strange as it may seem in hindsight but I was unusually confident on the day. Somehow and from somewhere inside I just knew (felt) we were going to win.

Bad parenting on a nuclear scale, minus one 'star' 😉 .
