    D4l

Hopefully this helps anyone on the D4L Board wondering why a significant number of the non committee members present at their 2022 AGM are less than happy.

The AGM was on Saturday Nov 19th, there was much discussion and debate with everyone in attendance ending up pretty much on the same page, there was significant genuine concern and time was considered to be a significant factor. There was a show of hands in response to a question raised by The Chair to see how many people present were ‘happy with current direction of the football club’ - no hands were raised.

It was also stated that D4L were ‘planning to nominate a primary representative this year’. There were six weeks left of 2022 at the time, we are now more than two months into 2023. The much discussed outstanding question of the clubs position re respect of the entrenched rights D4L have c/o their Class A shares is also outstanding.

On the face of it they appear to be no nearer getting what they believe to be what is due to them and have significantly lowered the bar post AGM having expressed a view in their latest update to members that significant progress has been made by way of Greg Fenton agreeing to take questions from them.

The can continues to get kicked down the road, attending these meetings and flogging the usual topics to death has become quite monotonous for those of us who have been doing so for quite a long time now ….. new faces or not.

Good luck to the folk currently taking the responsibility, none of the criticism I read is personal, I don’t believe there is any problem with any of the individuals they are all well known, well meaning and well thought of within our core support.

It just appears that the same old song has been played once too often for some.

    I agree.
Why has there been no mention from the current Dee4life board of directors about the nomination of the primary representative.
    Why is this.
It cannot be too difficult to tell the Dee4life members who they have nominated as their primary representative and when their appointment to the Dundee Football Club Limited board of directors is going to be announced.

Maybe none of the current board wants to do it? It's a thankless task which draws criticism from the club board and from fans who aren't even Dee4L members so I woudn't blame anyone for saying they didn't want to do it.

If the members of the current Dee4life board of directors are not willing to tell us who has been nominated as their primary representative and what is the latest position regarding their nomination then they should resign and get directors appointed who are prepared to keep the Dee4life members fully informed.
Part of the new Dee4life website is password protected for members only so if the current board of directors are unwilling to put this information into the public domain via their newsletter they could publish the information in the Members only section of their website.

You can't just nominate someone, that person needs to actually want to do it. If nobody wants to do it what then? If I hadn't stuck my hand up when I did (to my eternal regret) nobody else was going to. I suspect those currently on the board will have seen the **** I had to tolerate and will just think to hell with that for a game of sodjers.

The Dee4life rules allow external directors to be appointed as long as the number of full directors is higher than the number of external directors up to a maximum combined total of eleven full and external directors.
The external directors would have to stand for election as a full director at the next Dee4life AGM.

That's a completely different point but my main argument stands. Nobody can be nominated (or appointed) for anything if they don't want to be nominated.

Who would want to be nominated as this Primary Representative? It would be a pointless and very frustrating position.

I think it is worth trying to have someone who Dee4life can speak to and know that their views are being passed on to the DFC board. You may not have appreciated the contribution you made to the way the board reacted to your tenure. Perhaps you have underestimated the effect you were having. Maybe the reluctance to reappoint another Dee4life Nominee is a consequence of your efforts to bring matters of concern to the atte nation of the DFC board and a measure of success.
